hello,
I'm working on the DML M51, if you whant to built a batch 3, you can take the box engine deck:

but, if you whant to made a M51 at thekippur war, you must upgrade the engine deck:

Thanks Olivier,

I have one of these kits (the DML M51) in the stash, and was wondering how to do the backdating.

This is an excellent reference. A picture says more than 1000 words.

Don't forget to add the exhaust to the lower rear hull plate, as shown on the drawings. Use a standard left-hand M4A3 exhaust (Tamiya is perfect), and glue it to the bolted on disk on the left side of the access doors. Use some putty to blend the seam to make it look like a single casting.

Hello Olivier
You didn't reworking the front hull (around the 2 hatches areas)? Is the upper hull the same as their first M51 kit? If yes the front hull isn't very accurate when looking real photos.

I thinks that in Tom's book there's a modelling part where Tom said a bit on that Dragon 's error.
I have a M51 in stock (with Accurate armor detail set) but i thougt to use an Italeri hull that i have which looks far better in term of accuracy (changing the engine deck and use Dragon's parts will be other challenge).
Same goes with gun muzzle.
Just my two cent of euros since i feel this model will be published soon by Raymond
The best the magazine is, the less readers will speaks in bad way.

hello Stephane,
thank's for your comment's.
yes, this M51 is for Raymond, and it's the reason that I decided to make this kit directly from the box (with just one or two madification).
and I will note in my article (!?!) the list of the detail must be corrected...

ps: sorry for my english

hello Tom,
I just add to my kit the parts in resin.
all the other parts are from the "smart kit" M51 by Dragon : the barrel, the tracks, the photo etched mud guards, ....olivier

Look ing good, Olivier. Reminds me that I need to get back to my M51 Type A project. The interior is done and the exterior primed, but I need to build tracks and paint it. One correction on your drawings at the top of the thread: The two stowage configurations are not bound by Batch or time frame. The top version did come first, but tanks built that way stayed with that stowage even when other upgrades (Cummins engine, exhaust routing, etc.) were added later in the vehicle's service life.
