Bob,
Thank you for the response. My birthday was a couple days ago but thank you.
I have been having a great time with this. Being my first time seeing my idea starting to take shape and finally look like I wanted it to, it has been a blast.

I have to take a couple days off from this dio. because I have to wait about a week for the Verlinden heads. But I will keep checking the blog for any more comments so dont stop them coming.

I am starting another dio. I bought the master-box Tank Hunters kit. So I came up with a nice dio. idea.

thxs,
John

G'day John,

If you take on board the help given on this site, there is no doubt you will improve.

I especially like the paint job you have given your Panzer IV.

I would recommend that you give the muddy groundwork an airbrushing of darker brown paint, as it looks far to light at the moment.

Just a photography tip, try taking your pictures in front of a dark blue background (such as a blue piece of card) this will focus your camera on the colours and detail of the model only, and not the surroundings.

Keep it up,
Chas

Looks good, John I would agree on the colour of the mud - it should be a little darker. Nice job on the camouflage.

Thanks for sharing

Great Job,
i made my first model when i was about 10-11ish...it was an "OK" build,
but the sad thing is im also 14 now, and my work still shows no improvement

i am currently making a dio, slow progress (no money because no job ) but it seems to be coming along nicely.

By the way, good to see another person my age here

Chas,
Thank you for the comments. I will darken it up. I will also will change my pics backround with what you said. Would a white backround work just as good?

Hi Smithy,
I am glad you like it. It is always good to know there are other kids modelling too.
I am there with you, I am broke also . I am working for a farmer near by so I will make some there. I want to see your work also. Are you going to show it on this website.
If you post progress, people here are really helpful. I certainly have learned a good deal.
Keep modelling and practicing.

thxs,
John

Hi John,

I would use a blue background, as white tends to scatter the colour.

HI everybody how you guys doin?

These are after I fixed the dirtroad adding a darker color and adding wood varnish.
What do you guys think?
I decided against getting the Verlinden heads. They were to expensive for my budget.
So I used an extra tamiya? officers head. Nothing close in quality but it will do. I used a little bit of putty to make it fit right.
Which means after I finish his head IT will be done!!!!
Here are the pics for the road finish.

Enjoy! All comments are welcome.

Hi John , the mud looks much more realistic and it looks wet which is the effect you were looking for I see you used a blue backround and the idea works. Great job kiddo I hope to see more of your work in the future Bob

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the comments. You have been very supportive during this blog. Ever get that feeling that when people say they like your work, you just want to keep working? And when you are told about the things that look not so good and you want to fix it right away? I am glad everybody has been watching me build. Its the best way to learn.

John

A huge improvement on your groundwork. Well done.

Great photographs. Do you see how much clearer the blue background makes your model?

Hi DJ,
Glad you like it. Its quite easy to do. I used all acrilics.
For the tank officer- all Tamiya: Base- Nato Brown.
small areas- Khaki w/ Nato Brown dots.
dots over Nato Brown- Sky -dots.
Hope I said that clearly.

For the Panzergrenadier on tank- using ModelMaster:

Base- Burnt Sienna w/ Flat Black,Wood(or light tan), and Dark Green dots.

Hope it helps.

thxs,
John

Ok I changed my mind. I am going to put another fig on there. The guy on the tank with the field cap doesnt look right lifting his hand up and talking to the air.

The fig has some conversions. He has a MG, and shouting to someone.

Maybe he'll look better sitting somewhere else on the tank? Put a cup of coffee in his hand? The good thing about figures is you can remove them if you want to. Bob

Looking pretty good for a first effort.
You commmented on the difficulty of doing the flag. It's actually very good for a hand painted effort. But to get a more realistic flag google the flag you want then download it and save it on your computer. You can then import it to Word as you would any picture or clipart and resize it to what you need, Print this at a high resolution on your printer. Let the inks dry thouroughly. You could seal it with Decal Saver from MicroScale. Next carefully cut it out and apply thinned white glue to the back. Let this soften the paper and place it where you want it. Press it down and let it dry.
