After many years of on and off work I started painting this beast. There was more black than any other colour in the plan so I painted the whole thing black first and I am slowly adding the other colours one panel at a time.

Interesting variant, I like the looks of it. Few questions for you:
1. What's the base kit?
2. What's the conversion set used (or is it scratched)?
3. Kit tracks or aftermarket?
4. Any problems with the green or brown covering the black base coat?
Again, nice work Paul.

Quite good so far. What's this M113 variant used for? I can see many hatches on the roof and the one at the rear right (of the vehicle) has got an odd shape too...
Cannot wait to see the rest.
Ciao

Hi guys,
I posted the picture below several months ago. Its a Tow under armour variant used by the Canadian Army. The turret is a Norwegian product. I used the Academy M113 as the base kit . The hull roof , turret and stowage boxes are all scratchbuilt. The exterior fuel tanks are from Maple Leaf Models. The tracks and drive sprocket are from Hong Kong Creation Workshop.

Great job! This is one of the projects on my to do list. I just haven't found a source of supply for some of the parts.

What are you in need of? Most of it is scratchbuilt, but some common Canadian stuff is available. I can also give you some drawings.

Looking good Paul. Certianly alot farther than I've gotten on mine. I'm stuck on the CCTAS and the co ax MG that is on the side of the turret. I noticed you got out of doing this by doing the earlier version :-) I'm thinking of scrapping the interior and just doing it closed hatch. I think I bit off more than I could chew on that one. :-) I managed to get a little of atour of the Strat Tank barn (me without my camera of course). One of the other instructors on the Track course said I could come by any time and snap some pics anytime. Any ones you are interested in? After I saw the tanks really up close I saw all that is wrong with my Leopard A little PO'd is an understatement! There is something to be said about physically climbing aroud the actual vehicle.
Cheers

Mike,
I'm still doing the CCTAS and MG mount for the later version. They are all add on parts. for later. The CCTAS will slide on over one of the periscopes. With luck, I might have it done for CAPCON.

Looks like this is a little beyond my skills. I guess I'll have to be content with my M113 ambulance project. Just one question, I need a source for the external fuel tanks.

Thanks, I'll get the fuel tanks, and probably some new jerry cans. Now I have to plan how to do the interior.

I've got a 548 on the table now, which will be followed by a fitters vehicle. I also want to replace the track on a couple of older M113s I built years ago.

That's different. Is that an M2 APC? I don't know much about armor, just being around Selrach tho I've learned a little bit. The color scheme is interesting as well. Are you going to weather it a bit after your done? Or leave it spanking brand new? Very impressive! I would love to see more non-tank armor here. I think they're interesting and different. Congrats on a beautiful job!

Its an M113A2 APC. Here's one in service taken in 1991. Mine will look something like this when completed. not heavily weathered, but just enough to show some use.
