Hi Pat
I just wondered looking at these figures again, it doesn't actually say on the box art,for example, that these are Gen2 figures. Normally it's emblazoned on the box front. Did Dragon say they were? Just wondered that's all.

Pointing!!
Here's an idea for the next "Berlin '45" diorama - A lot of german soldiers, surrounded by russians, standing outside the entrance to the Führerbunker, all pointing at Hitler, who's just sticking his head out of the doorway, and all is saying - IT WAS HIM!
Now that's good use of pointing figures...

Well spotted Alan. My apologies they are not Gen2 after all. In their press release Dragon use the phrase "These figures utilize Dragon’s famous molding expertise to achieve an astounding level of detail." and I just assumed they were Gen2. Sorry about that and I will be more careful in Future.
Actually I'll be more likely to buy them now that I know they are not Gen 2. I find the Gen 2 sets over complicated.

Mike,
Are you refering the 2nd guy from the left in the full picture? The weapon doesn't bug me so much as the map case positioned over the groin area. It looks awkward, uncomfortable and unnatural...Imagine running in that setup with the map case banging you in the family jewels with every bound you take
Rudi
Rudi,
Yeah, that's the guy.
I'm usually a sucker for a good Mp44 toting grenadier, I love the guys from the 352 Grenadiers set..http://218.143.56.104/box/dml6115.jpg
But to my eyes, this guy is holding the mp44 up way too high to hold that way for long. It's up at or above diaphram level, he's holding with all bicep and abdomen muscles. Try standing around with a gallon of milk or even a broom , better yet a gallon of milk hanging from a broom , that way for 5 min..

This is a plastic model, he doesn't actually have to hold it and take into account the real thing. It's a pose, a moment in time caught in sculpture and made into plastic.
He may well in real life held it for a few minutes like that then changed his hold. With all due respect and no offence don't you think you are over analysing this.
After all whilst in real life he may not be able to carry it like that for long, it to me does look as unnatural that he could never hold it like that under any circumstance. Plenty of figures out there with legs stretched apart, arms raised which would be impossible to hold in a motionless position for long but as a moment frozen in time its perfectly believable.

Alan,
It was just one of those things that jumped out at me.
I saw the set announced and thought "Great more late war Germans" -no sarcasm intended- Then thought "Look another advancing mp44 gunner, my favorites"
Then thought, 'wait a minit.. that dont look right..."
Like I said in the orig posting, I will end up buying them anyway..

Again DML and again Germas,Germans,Germans. This set looks like clone of previouse figures. When I saw this box-art I get feeling that saw all those figures in more early sets.

Just to inject a slightly bitter note into the proceedings,
I LIKE them.
I LIKE them.

Being a "German builder" I like them too, but what I don't understand is, why Dragon dosen't produce a couple of allied tank crew sets (Africa/Italy, NW Europe, russian tankers), when they produce so many great shermans and T-34's. That ought to be bestsellers.
Just a thought

Indeed. That reminds me of the firing position drills we had in the army prior to going to the shooting range. Standing position was surprisingly tough, and it wasn't very different than that on the figure. Twenty times raising and lowering your rifle to aim made the 3,5kg thingie feel quite heavy...
So, I second those opinions made about the figures pose being a snapshot of time instead of a "proper" pose.
I agree the map case being in an awkward position. I bet if he didn't realize to move it himself, his squad leader would probably mention it.

Sorry for reviving the old thread… Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would help me to identify the tan coat uniform the officer on far right is wearing. I’m looking for some pictures of the real thing or replica to get an idea about color and details. I’ve tried searching for “coat”, “anorak” and even “parka” but I still did not run into anything that would match.
Thanks in advance

Ales,
The officer appears to be wearing a collarless sheepskin overjacket, an item of clothing some Panzer units took to wearing during the winter months on the Eastern Front. It also appears that the cuffs are elasticized. Without more detailed pictures or the figures in front of me that's about all I could tell you.

CATALOGUE.(british sarcasm....sorry!)
This set was released in July, so it has since been accompanied by many more "another set(s) of Germans".
Turnover sales tell a much better tale to companies. If you don't like it - don't buy it (and I'm sure you won't). I must however thank you for bumping the thread up again, as you made me have another look at the kit and decide to buy it (no sarcasm there, mate).
