I like to read the posts and follow the builds on the entire "Kitmaker Network", looking for new ideas and techniques, but my first love for the hobby comes in the form of !/35th Armor. I am alittle put off by some of the posts in the "AutoMoideler" forums concerning the armor modelers " lack of diversification" , "somthing different than Panzer grey", or our "Obsession with bolt counting".
I have not read one single post on Armorama talking down to those that put together 1/24th 30 piece vehicles that only require clean paint and an aftermarket set of rims to "pimped out".
I am encouraged by the Model Shipwrights, Aeroscale, and the Historicus Forma posts. I am not sure why the "car builders" have to look down on us for doing what we enjoy. If any of you have an opinion on this, please let me know.

Are you referring to this thread?
If so I have to say that is pretty tame stuff. There are many who build armor (some of those guys included) who will make the same remarks about their side of the hobby too. IE: too many German subjects, rivet-counting, plain paint schemes, etc.
Too me it just says that we all have different tastes. They were just saying they enjoyed something different in that thread. But I don't get 'trash talk' out it myself.

Well Knight Terror,
Sorry you took my remark the wrong way, as my main area of interest is soft skin vehicles, usually US meaning OD.
As for 30 piece kits, and clean paint, seems you are the one putting down the auto builders.
Did you notice it was posted under "CARS"..... not ARMOR, so maybe they/we have a right to talk about CARS there!
I bet we even start talking about Trucks under Trucks soon.

No, the general down talking of those that count bolts and spray panzer grey could be anything other than the way it is. BTW, 9 pieces for the engine, 5or 6 for the body, 7 for the exaust, 8 for the wheels and throw in the dash/seats, 30 parts. Grab a can of testors and you have yourself a "pimped out ride"

Boy, do I ever miss the "best color for olive drab" and "blackened tank barrel" threads.

I personally could care less if you count rivets until the cows come home or drive a panzer grey Nash Rambler pimped out with Yugo wheels.
I do think you are overly sensitive and trolling for an argument.
Have fun, build a model the way you want, paint it the color you want with all the parts you want. We'll all say you are right and I'll just ignore you.

What type of "Dubs" should I put on my Camaro? They range from 8 to 12 parts, I'm not sure I could complete the build on time...Maybe I could cut back on one spray of the rattle can, to make up the difference....

Nice job on the ignoring part, aren't you missing "Murder she wrote" or "Walker, Texas Ranger" ?

It is pretty funny that the modelers he's accusing of trash talking and now is baiting to get into a flame war are armor modelers who occasionally build cars and trucks. I do an occasional car or truck, maybe once a year as well. While I find many are limited in parts numbers, I have taken a look at several master modelers' NASCAR kits at local IPMS shows. They have a whole lot more than 30 parts, I'd dare say 30 parts in the wheel/tire assembly alone (have you sever seen these guys use the PE brake disks? cool stuff), not to mention the wired engine, distributor, spark plugs, etc.
Of course, for every super-detailed car there is a curbside slammer with a thick, glossy paint job (mirror finish btw) that's so thick you can barely make out the door seams and door handles.
Dave, another one for the "hide user" button?

Sorry to hear you feel wronged rvohwinkle but you can't expect to be taken seriously after trash talking the very people who've attempted to answer your post. Your actions appear to be a bit counter productive to me.
I hope you don't choose to continue along this path of belittling people for belittling. Cheer up.
Hypocrisy: In psychology, hypocritical behavior is closely related to the fundamental attribution error: individuals are more likely to explain their own actions by their environment, yet they attribute the actions of others to 'innate characteristics', thus leading towards judging others while justifying ones' own actions.

Whoa!!! Now that was a personal kick in the gonads!!! When i was in high school I did indeed drive a panzer grey (or some kinda grey) Nash Rambler. (Man, that sucker was sure ugly!) Of course that was in the days before Yugos, so I wasn't able to properly pimp it out.....
...but, Hey!!! Why ya gotta be picking on me just because my taste in transportation was a bit off?????
Well, I'm off to count nuts since I don't have rivets. (Yup, I still got two.)

Well, if you want to do a "straight from the factory" build, sure...but I have research showing the field modified three-tone camo was very prevalent, at least on the Eastern Front.

Man, when I was in high school, I drove a panzer gray mastodon pimped out with wolly mammoth toe nails and chromed tusks! Ran great until I tried to chop and channel it.
