as thoroughly discussed in other threads in several places in this forum and backed up with lots of photographic evidence the consensus concluded that there was no such blackening, primarily because the powder in the shells did not leave a black residue such as found on old muzzle loading black powder discharged weapons.

it's a fine build, though! floating around in the back of my mind is a similar scene, jungle based with the greenery and elements nearly consuming the beast...

since it's under trees, don't forget birdy droppings!

Now there's a question

Leaves were done by taking real, dried, leaves that were crushed (for the most part by my 3 year old grandaughter!!). They were mixed together and then sprinkled, dry, onto the dio. Johnson's Klear (Future) was then added a drop at a time with a syringe - this acts as a glue but also leaves a bit of a sheen to give the impression of the leaves being wet.
