Jeff,

Looks good. Did you use a template for the stars? Looking forward to seeing it weathered up

First Darryl no they are the Kit ones, quite good if you use a good base coat of future.
Well Ed the tracks are the tracks.
I did put the idler as far back as I could so will see when the tracks go on.
If not well nothing can be done except the dreaded glue tracks.
Washes next.

thanks for replies.

Looking good Jeff! Am about at the same point with the M4A4 kit from DML, that was hoping to finish for the Sherman campaign...whoops! Fell a little short there.

Will have to check back on your progress! Cool!

Ha, that's the first thing I thought of too!
Looks really good at this stage Jeff. Does the kit come with the periscope guards?

When I built this kit the tracks were around two links too long. I re-made the join area on one end by cutting off two links and then trimming back the end connectors for the overlapping join, basically trying to match what was originally there.

Not perfect by any means but I buried the join under the road wheels and it's hardly noticeable.

Thanks Tim I also missed the Campaign just can't rush some things.
It is a nice kit and can't wait to get some more of the other ones to fill in the Sherman series.

Brad Does the kit come with the periscope guards?

Yes and so does the Eduard set, well after breaking one of the Eduard ones a few choice words on how somebody would try and make something so fragile is beyond me.
Have to tip my Hat to Per-Erik on him using the Aber ones.
I did try the included Dragon ones had one side glued down and yep it broke as I went to attach the other side so after a few more choice words. ,off it came and on went the included plastic ones, which are better as it is made of rod.
No more will I even try and use those things.

Lamont I don't care and I am not removing no links from the track sorry Buddy.

If loose will have to stay that way
But I did move the darn Idler wheel as far back as I could so hope that will help.
Best thing is they can be glued down.

Thanks all.
Hope to have some more pics soon.
Overall this is a pretty darn good model to build.
I hope the rest of the Sherman's work out as good.
Hats off to Dragon.

Opinion on this weathering.

To much or what?

Need to try different ways this is after an Oil dot treatment.

I can change it if need be.

Need some comments on where I am now.

Plus Mig European Dirt dries to light for me.

Thanks all.

Jeff,

Looking good. I have tried the "dot" method and have had varing success. Are you going to use a filter over the dot method? It might mute the streaking?

Don't know any suggestions on one?

Buy Mig's stuff at big $$$ or make my own

This here is an experiment on weathering.

Thanks Darryl

where I stand now.

Yep these tracks are about 1 to 2 links loose.

So I did leave the drive sprocket loose and the center return rollers,I guess a set of Panda tracks will be applied.
No rush on me finishing it anyway.
But I just wish that Dragon would make it easier to tighten them as detail is good and all.

PS anybody seen Per-Erik ,I really want to see that beast done up.
I did learn a bunch from his build.

Hey...
Looking good here, bud!

Tracks look great, but I agree with you 'bout Dragon makin' em a tad too long, guess I'll have to try and shorten mine. BTW, what's Panda tracks.

One tiny piece of advice regarding the dot filtering, if I may...
Since you've been using oils it's probably not completely dry yet. Try to tone it down a bit by dampening a broad flat brush with turpentine just to get a more subtle effect. To me it looks kinda heavy, but then again it could be the pics or my eyes...

Down towards the fenders you can drag the brush upwards so you don't get the "brush stop marks" at the bottom. Then you can even the upward strokes out by dragging the brush swiftly downwards again, pulling it out before hitting the fenders. You'll get nice rain streaks this way too... Same goes for the turret, try dragging the brush all the way past the bottom of it to get the "brush stop marks" toned down...

Hope you don't take this up in a negative way bud, just as, hopefully, constructive advice...

Keep up the good work...

No negative Way from you Per-Erik and where the heck have you been hiding

To late on the marks my man.

I already sealed it again with some Vallejo Matt Varnish.

But I might be able to do it your way after I let it dry good.

If not saved and will be used on the next Sherman family Deal.

That is the kind of info I like only way we can better buddy.

So are you going to use your tracks or go for Panda ones?

BTW right here.

Any more hints Per-Erik I am all ears on what you say Dude.

Well, s**t happens, but you can still tone it down a bit with a wash or two.

Seems that we cannot use the Panda tracks on our 105's since they are all for the VVSS Sherman. Too bad cause they seemed like a nice product.

Crap I did not check that.
I did think about it as I did not see the guide horns.
But just slipped past me.
Time for Green tea I guess.
I guess good for the Tamiya one which I have two of anyway.

Strange how one HVSS and one VVSS.
Will try the tone down and might I say a Dry Brush
This one is an experiment in weathering I have a bunch of these Sherman's.

I am really jumping in and also trying this here sprayed Pigment deal.

I just changed my Paasche tip so will use the old one to spray the pigments.
Nothing wrong just wanted a new one.

Thank you Bob.
I hope that you get to build a lot when you retire.
Subway boy been a lot of years since I smelt that place a smell all it's own.
Some good and some bad

Thanks James and DJ.
DJ I am turning into dare I say it after all these years of Tigers and Panzer III's and Panthers T-34's a "shermaniac"
After all the reading of how they were not that great.
The style is a design pleasure to build and many more will be coming.
Wish somebody would do more tracks for the HVSS suspension.
Thanks again and go build one or two.
Next one a Lee

Update Stowage with questions?

Well I did a little rear stowage.

Question is this Green stuff so springy?

I can't get it to lay flat.

But good thing is can be removed and painted separate.

I did mix 1 to 1 so should I use more Blue?

Don't ask me why I did not use the Legends stuff I guess with a bunch of Sherman's I want to spread it out.

Thanks.
