Not really, it's part of the Viking Campaign...which by the way it has been proposed a few minutes ago..

Where's that turret from ?
I have a spare T-55 and might get a new use for it !!!

Looks pretty cool ! Anymore strange Finnish Armour ?

The turret is probably British? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marksman_anti-aircraft_system

hello John,
i submitted a campaign called Blitzkrieg 2:Africa.it was approved and will start June 1,2009.
i do not think that MarkM will allow 2 Africa campaigns to run at the same time.
and i am also going to submit a Blitzkrieg 3:Italy to start Jan 1,2010.i thought that you should know what i am planing.
about the Viking campaign,can you use vehicles that were exported to the Scandinavian counties or do they have to be home grown?
cheers,
Bruce

I think that my Italian Campaign and the Afrikan Campaigns proposal were not approved.
Yes they can be used, no problem.

Thanks Bruce

Thanks, Clark. Let us see if we can get at least 10 modellers on for this campaign.

Here is some from the finnish wikipedia: Wikipedia.fi
Taistelupanssarivaunut = MBT
Rynnäkköpanssarivaunut = IFV
Muut panssarivaunut = other tanks
Panssariajoneuvot = Armored vehicles

Check out also Finnish Defence Forces homepage (only in finnish, sorry):
Mil.fi
Check also this finnish scalemodel site, Pienoismallit.net reference section; most of those tanks are in finnish camouflage and markings: Pienoismallit.net
And of course, Andreas Lärka homesite
Some interesting photos:

Thanks Tuomas !!
Great references!

This:
KMT 5 M -miinanraivausjyrä (Panssarivaunu T55 M:n eteen asennettava mekaaninen laite)

It's a T-55 with a KNT Mine roller right ?
That mine roller can be used on other T-55's right ? (I'm going to build a Finnish Trumpeter T-55 without the mine roller, I will adapt the mine roller on another T-55...)

Yes. Literally translated "KMT 5 M - demining roll (Mechanical device installed in front of Tank T55 M)"

I think that those rollers were only in some specific tanks, i.e. you can't place roller in front of a tank that hasn't got "trails" to attach it.

Well Tuomas, I have 2 T-55's, one Finnish from Trumpeter with a KMT Mine roller and a Tamyia.
Me guess is to put the mine roller on the Tamyia kit. That shouldn't be a major problem

How was the transition from the Russian tanks to the Leopards in the Finnish Army ?
From the pics on those references, from PT-76's, T-54's, T-55.. T-72 .. some of those are still in service right, I guess they are quite reliable ?

Tamiya is the best T-55 kit out there, and there shouldnt be any problem placing KMT in front of it as long as you choose tank that has KMT also in RL.

What you mean? Could you explain bit more.

Most of those pictures are taken by army personnel of tank still in sercive. Highly reliable.

Hi Tuomas,

Thanks for your answers.
I was thinking that the Leopards were replacing the T-72's or the T-55 (or both)..
Was this change welcomed by the crews, maintenance crews ?

Was it considered the possibilities of getting some T-80's or T-90 instead of the Leopards ?

Just curious that after getting Soviet equipment for so many years why the sudden change...
Also was there some special requests for the Leopards (The Swedish Leopards ended up a little different , that's why I ask this question...)?

Thanks again!

IIRC the T-72s replaced T-55 and Leopards then T-72s.

Huh, no idea. I think they did, since now they will stay alive better?

I don't know, but those were bought used, so I think they bought them because of the price. Maybe this has something to do with intents to joining NATO..

Thanks for your answers Tuomas !!

I will check the links you send me for references on my Finnish T-55.
I was checking for a conversion for an engineering version but it is way too expensive... some other time maybe.

The Panther D you are doing for the campaign is it the Dragon one ?
