Browsing online I noticed some vintage PC Game that might become a campaign, Afrika Corps vs Desert Rats...
So here goes :
African Campaign
German or British vehicles (armour or softskin)
1:72 to 1:16 scale
Viking Campaign
Modern Vehicles (armour or softskin) -- post WWII
Any Scandinavian country.
1:72 to 1:35

I would be on for both campaigns, but it seems like there are already a lot of campaigns with solid backing that is not getting approved by the staff - strange.
I think the African campaign could include Italian and US vehicles as well. An "Africa 1939 to 1943" campaign.
Any campaign that gives me an excuse to build a Danish Leopard II is fine with me.

yeah, i'd be in for a general desert campaign, especially if it were wider scope (I want to do an italian tank)
maybe even open it up to gulf war vehicles, etc.?

I would be interested in the African Campaign.
Please keep us informed.
The Viking Campaign sounds cool too, I just don't build anything post WWII.

John,
maybe you are coming up with ideas faster than Mark is able to approve them

.
I haven't seen your Italian campaign approved yet, but maybe it would be good idea to join North Africa with it and create Mediterranean campaign (Italy/Crete/North Africa included)
BTW: I'd be interested (especially in WWII part) but LATER next year.... Starting in March would probably fit me

Oh yes, African Campaign could determine me to make or finish my British desert models: Mathilda, Quad Gun Tractor, Crusader, Bedford QL, M3 Grant... So yes, please

FYI - generally you have to start builds within the time frame of a campaign as well as finishing - so completing a previously started kit is usually not allowed per se. some campaigns do allow this, but it tends to be the exception rather than the rule.

It's no problem, campigne determine me, but I don't need to include models I have started. It's just an occasion to make them all and buy something new

Thanks

I guess the Campaign screen is pretty full right now, so all these proposals will be for 2009.
The Viking Campaign and the African Campaign.
About the proposal of mixing the Italian Campaign (see a previous post) with the African Campaign I am not sure yet because the Italian Campaign is already proposed, it has has a mixture of timeframe (WWI to present day), and the African Campaign would be a restricted to WWII .
Yes some kits might get for both campaigns.
Maybe opening the African Campaign for all nations envolved, but this opens another Pandora's box...

hello John,
i think that you should have the time line for 1939-1943 and have it as Africa only.this will allow German,Italian,French,British,American, and the Commonwealth. the possibilities are endless ie: British troops vs Italian troops in Ethiopia,German troops vs Austrian troops at Tobruk or American troops vs German troops at Kasserine pass.
with keeping the campaign in Africa only,i think it will appeal to a large group of modelers ie: the ones who only do american or german or british vehicle/troops models.this way you will get them to join up andd have a large campaign going.
also starting the campaign in 2009 will give the ones who join up a chance to buy what they want to build.and give MarkM a chance to look over your proposel and see if you have alot of support for this type of campaign.
just my 2 cents.
cheers,

hello John,
great looking banners.the banner for Africa says 1940-1945,not 1939-1945.is this how you are going to do the campaign?
i also forgot to mention that a builder could do a model of the French troops resisting the British and American landings at Morocco in 1942.if you have seen the movie Big Red One,it has a great scene about the French firing on the American troops landing.and it was real, the French troops did fire on the Americans and some of the French fought for about 12 hours before surrendering.
let me know when you have submitted the campaign,i will be one of the first to enlist.
cheers,
Bruce

Well Bruce I'm still waiting for another proposed campaign.
For these 2 campaigns we have so far 9 people , Jesper, Robert, Vance, Randy, Andrzej, Andrew, Michal, you and me..
About the timeline :
- East African Campaign: 10 June 1940 – 27 November 1941
- West African Campaign: July 10 – November 12, 1940
- North African Campaign: June 10, 1940 – May 16, 1943
That's why I put 1940. We might find some other battle before that !

hello John,
i think that you will have enough support for the North Africa campaign when you submit it.
i do not think that MarkM will have a problem with it,as it is next year, and there is a lot of room right now for a large scale campaign.
i have been thinking about just doing ships after i get Blitzkrieg/Eastern Front/Air Battle over Europe,Airborne campaigns done.but i do like your idea about a Africa campaign, and it gives me a reason to buy more kits.LOL
if you need anything let me know.
cheers,
Bruce

Do you count us Finns as Scandinavians? Some people do, some not and even we are not sure if we are or not!

Nice!
I am very eager to build T-34 m1941 Ps. 231-1 in Finnish markings. The camouflage is gonna be hard as I'll paint it with brush.

It's based on a T-55 chassis right ?
Do they still use it with the Finnish army ?

If I remember correctly it is based on T-54 chassis. It's not in use anymore, last ones retired around 2000. Nowadays main AA-tank is Itpsv 90 Marksman, which is built on T-55 chassis.
