Hi Guys
Bill Horan without any doubt. His work is head and shoulders above the rest.
Both 'Last Stand at Gandamak' and 'Ghosts of Chiilinwallah' are true classics of the dio art.
Some of the names mentioned above are undoubtedly good (some very good) and talented but they all have something missing (IMHO).
Cheers
Karol
JBA - It's a bit unfair (upon you) including your (very excellent) work within such an open discussion - everyone must be compelled to agree, which makes it difficult for people to be objective.

I think it would be hard to make a list of only ten people.
Everyone mentioned so far is worthy of a spot.
I'd like to add Alan Wolfson to the list.

Mike-
I did go to his site and am certainly convinced he should have a place on the list. Stunning and extraordinary (sp?) works.
My favorites:
Shep Paine
JBA
Vladimir Demchenko
Keith Forsyth
Joseph Neumeyer (Duel at Sea!)
Robert Doepp (Minenschadden!)
F. Verlinden
I vote for a top twenty list as there are too many that would be left off on a ten list. That is,there are more than twenty that could go on a ten list on any given day.
Cheers for heros!

Hi Rick,
Alan's work is pretty captivating but probably hard to appreciate in photos only.
There's so much to take in with every scene.
Not to get too far off the subject of this thread because I know we are taking about a specific genre or subject matter that Alan doesn't fit into, but I wanted to bring another guy to everyone's attention also:

Sorry, you have to copy and paste also. I'm not good at figuring out direct links.
He is a Japanese artist that is linked to Alan's site. He'd have to be on my personal top 10 list also.
His work is mesmerizing and his site will take some time to explore.
I like his varied styles of presentation. All the work that goes into each piece makes me tired just looking at them.

HI guys,
I just want to add at this point that the repeated mention of my friend Robert Doepp is not adequate as he does not do Dioramas at all. He is a worldclass Armourbuilder and he ads a bit of groundwork to it, that's all, for the moment.
If you all like the dio "Minenschaden" than it would be wise to name his real builder,
Volker Bembennek, another friend of mine, and include him in this list. That's what i'm doing now.
Cheers
Claude

Claude,
I was not aware of this. When I first saw 'Minenschaden', Robert's name was the only one associated with it. Believe it was Missing-Lynks where I saw it first.
Thanks,
Rick

Even though he is mainly armor, Gary Millias, has always stood out to me, . His figures are outstanding in my opinion and his weathering is spot on.
Also, Glenn Bartolotti is a great diorama builder. I have talked to him many times and his creativity in making a dio is amazing. He is also a great figure painter and does a great job showing realism.
Just my 2 cents,
John

Hello Everybody,
I'm starting here from the dioramas, and this post has served to connect me to many who you have nominated.
In Spain, I believe there will be too many people who do not know, but I like most are Aitor Azkue, Yoseba Arambarri and Carles Elias (best builder ...), and without a doubt I'm staying away from Spain with Jean Bernard Andre, because their dioramas get my imagination working enjoying what I see. On this I think that adding a few years ahead of us all. His dioramas are real art.
Regards Everybody... ( I am sorry my English)
Fernando Sancho.
