Wow, I'm impressed. I am lucky to get 30 minutes in just to work on a model. SWMBO tells me that they are my distraction and keep me from finishing other projects around the house. About once a week I can sit down with the kids and work with them on their kits. Either way, I never have enough time for anything to become too tedious. 18 months to finish the Tamiya M4A3, a year to do the Dragon variant, and my quickest build, Tamiya's M8, just 5 months and it is almost finished. I am also working on a P47, six months in so far, and the Trumpeter Sullivans, 4 months, almost to step 4. I can choose one kit and get one part done per day usually. But that is enough to keep me interested.

Heavy metal music. Problem with that is, I drum, so if I hear a good riff, I put the model aside and go figure out the riff on my set.
I am haunted by Neil Peart.

Music: Wilco, or occasionally classic (Enemy at the Gates Soundtrack, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Master and Commander Soundtrack).

Talk radio - sports usually, some political but that's just going to be too aggravating until 2012

I agree the Master and Commander soundtrack is outstanding motivational music as is the one from Drums Along the Mohawk. I now appreciate how along in years I am getting when I read all the names for bands and music the younger generation provides.....what happened to Frank Sinatra?

What kind of music? I imagine it isn't that heavy metal stuff or is it?

Well, why not? Depends on what you mean by "heavy metal" stuff of course, my musical range is from 1970s rock/blues rock (Hendrix to Led Zeppelin) to New Wave British Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest) to more current "metal" bands (like Epica, Nightwish, Edguy). Of course, too much growl distracts me and I don't like them anyway, so by heavy metal you mean those "Roaaaar, hoooooaaar, rhoaaaar..... GROAAAR" type of stuff, no no no no. Too much thrash and doom metal kills brain cells

I haven't properly watched TV since 2002 (useless) and I concentrate on what I watch, so no movies or other for me.

I don't like silence, there's always some music playing at the background. I got used to it so much that silence itself distracts me.

If I'm going to be working for very long I'll listen to music. Pretty random mix. Led Zep, Toby Keith, Dave Edmunds, Sinatra, The Wombles, etc.....

At last, I can relate to Toby Keith (I Should Have Been A Cowboy) and Sinatra....but not to The Wombles

I usually listen to the radio. I can't get many stations in the basement. I would prefer NPR, but there is either nothing on during modeling time or the reception sux, so i usually tune into Air America.
If i had more room on the modeling bench, I would bring the laptop in and listen to Australian ABC Radio over the internets
