I promised to put some pictures up from what I am doing so here go's:
This is an very old Esci kit of the Demag D7 and boy oh boy it is horrible, a lot of flash and very very poor fit. (I still have 3 more of these on the shelf.
After Bep (Dirk, how is the paintjob going?) has showed me his Demag, I wanted to give it a go.
I am not a experienced modeller and I said to myself that I am going to do this OOB, just for fun and to work on technique.
I don't know what happened, but after searching for documentation and comparing the pictures to the kit I saw so much things that needed improvement that I just could not resist to modify the parts a bit.
I effectively started on friday night and this is what I got until now. there is still much more that can be done on this area alone, but it is done for me, up to the back compartment.
At this rate it will take me several months to Finnish it.
Any comments are welcome.
The seat and back wall are just temporary to look for the fit.
The pedals are in place, but I already took these pictures

I got one of these cheap a couple of years ago and boy what a kit....I was half way through it when I realized that the warp wasn't minor at all. I couldn't straighten it at all and now its just bits in the spares box. Never again will I build ERTL.

Ronny, Ronny, Ronny.... Not experienced - I think we all suffer from being overly self critical (and that's an ok thing by the way). Your work has proven to be some of the best stuff on the Big A.
This is good stuff.

Scott,
Tnx for the kind words, but I have only made a handful of models yet and I know of modelers on this site who have way more talent then I have.
I will try to make in progress pictures if I can (I have to borrow the camera every-time).
But for what it is worth, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS KIT!!!

Hello Ronny,
The paintjob is done. You know it was yellow when I left from your house (thanx again for the lessons). I primed it black again. Then German grey and then light grey. Now I'm facing the next challenge. The wheels and tracks. And boy a challenge it is.
I finished one side. It took me about 2 hours to make it look about right. Tomorrow I'll start with the other side.I will post some pictures later on when it's finished. Being my first time to use an airbrush, putty, sandpaper, weathering techniques and god knows what else it looks ok but I still have got a lot to learn.
So untill the next time, happy modelling.

Hey Ronny... this is looking good. It maybe not the best kit in the world as far as fit is concerned, but there seems to be nice detail and coupled with your own extras, should really be nice when finished.
And as slodder said, donīt be too critical of yourself. I have faith in you to make this look well. Sometimes its just being brave enough to jump in and get it done, rather than not trying in case it goes wrong.
One unrelated point ...... I thought belguim should have won the eurovision last night. Havent a clue what the song was about, but I love their sound. Reminds me a lot, of some of the newage irish music coming out.

LOL, Trust me, neither do I, the language is made up and te sound is based on old Celtic music.
Not my cup of tea but it sounded good, but I think that Turkey deserved to win (I am just glad it was not TATU), in fact with only 2 points difference there are 2 winners
