Hello again everyone.

I'm reposting the firefly with a new set of pictures. the prev set was a little dark and you couldn't really see the best part..... the suble blended shades of green I got with this tank.. these pics are the best I can do although they look a tad light, however you can see the blended shades in them.

at least for this set its not 1 A.M. and i'm not so tired that I put the camera on the shelf and tried to hook the tank into the computer.

as before this is the DML kit for the sherman firefly with the indy track links.

comments are welcome.. there also isn't much weathering to it as i wanted a newly arrived tank with a dusty green look. and I just wanted to find a good stopping point..(5 months on 1 model is too long for me. I got firefly burnout (

i was esp happy with the blended shades, the tools and the track color itself, although I know my assembly needed a little work.. these were a first for me.

again comments welcome......cause I can take it.........

Generally a nice job, but I do have a couple comments.

First, You need to paint the coax machine gun (the muzze poking out of the mantle next to the main gun). Also, you probably should have left off the .50 caliber machine gun from the commander's hatch. I have never seen a .50 cal. mounted on a Firefly (nor other British Sherman). These are both a couple of easy fixes.

Del, the overhead and nose on shots really show the subtle paint variations. This is good stuff. Interesting to view. I know from talking to you way back when that you were trying some different things here finishing wise. Congrats on what sounds like a difficult build.

Very nice, always liked the gun on Firefly more then Sherman, one thing, the tracks should be a little more rusty and dirty though

i agree the tracks might be a tad on the bright side but I don't think a layer of rust would be all that realistic.. someday when I get around to it I may add some pastels to weather it and give the tank a coating of dullcoat but at the moment i'm happy with it..

by the way here is a pic of a sherman in color in WWII that really lets you see the track...

and here are some links to some more color pics showing tracks...

sherman pic 1

M10 I think.

another sherman

these are in my WWII in color picture archive.. at

as you can see i think rust is overrated on a working tanks tracks.. dirt is more likely depending on the ground conditions. but as always this is your own personal choice.

Looks good, Delbert. I've got this in my "almost finished" stack. How did you like bending that PE around the antenna base? One way bends are OK, two way bends can be tough, but the bending and rolling....that's a bear.LOL
Anyway, very nicely done. Congratulations.

yep that was a bear... for the circle bend I used a pencil.. I figured out where on the point that was the correct diameter and then marked it then bent it right around... after I had it marked off the actual bend took very little time or effort.

this was also my first sucessful use of any type of PE.. as my last 2 attempts were total dissasters.. as my brummbar and ME 110 that i've thrown back into boxes can attest to....

I like it very much Delbert. I love models where weathering is not excessive too!!!

Great Job Delbert

That`s a really nice looking Firefly you have got there.. I like your work on the tracks (you could add maybe a little rust to it as they appear a little clean but you have surely done a good job man
