What about sticky bombs? Trying to slap a couple on the tank is pretty desperate! Since your dio is a close-range encounter, a bazooka'd be out of the question, but sticky bombs, maybe not.

Here's the set. 10 bucks for two plastic figures? Two Tamiya plastic figures? Seems a little expensive.

Military Hobbies is a very overpriced retailer. I've seen that item at half that price or less.

Clark: Good idea. I'll think about it. I also thought I could give the soldier in the house a homemade bomb, such as a Molotov cocktail.

I might use one of the ones that came with the KT (I don't have any other German figures), or the one around his waist. It just depends on which I like better.

Gerald: I will do more looking around and see if I can get that set elsewhere. That combined with the Cherkassy set Martyn recommended would make the perfect scene.

Thanks,
Samuel

I think you have a pretty good idea, but as pointed out by the above it has some problems. First off a tank, especially a KT, would have some heavy infantry following it. I would say if anything have the tank disabled. A mine or arty blast that stripped the tracks, or a broken down engine (most likely with those POSs). Have the US troops in the building about to fire down on the unsuspecting crew or mechanics. I think it could turn out really cool regardless.

Just my 2 cents!

Martyn: I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here.

Mike: Good point. I hadn't thought of the infantry. I'm locked into the tank as is, since I have assembled the tracks, but thanks for your input.

Here are some pics of the Tiger. In reality I am further along, having applied the decals and started oil dot filters.

Please excuse the bad pictures. I'm still trying to get used to my new photo setup.

For anyone who's interested, here is the progress so far on my King Tiger. I have applied overall filters of raw umber and raw sienna artist's oils, done some streaking (barely visible) with more RU, and started chipping. I am not satisfied with the chipping, especially on the front glacis plate, but hopefully I'm getting better. I've done an RU wash on the tracks, but it doesn't show up well in the photos.

Here are the pics:

Here's a good view of the chipping on the glacis...

This is the best picture of the streaking below the track hangers.

Some overall shots:

More pics are in my "The Ambush" album.

I have molded the building an it turned out very well, however, I dropped the biggest piece on the floor, so I am in the process of glueing it back together (I'm trying to avoid having to mold another).

I would start a build log, but since I have already done so much, it doesn't seem worth it. Anyone agree/disagree?

Thanks for looking,
Samuel

I know just what you mean about there being too much house. I have though that often, which is part of the reason I thought of giving it some battle damage.

You know, many buildings in NW Europe (where I was born) have just one floor and then an attic. It's a thought to reduce the mass of the building (and it would make the TII look larger, too, and it certainly was a behemoth!) Soldiers inside the building is a nice idea, it gives you some more interesting points of view. They could, in a one-storey building, be trying to hit the tank from an attic window.

Mike: Thanks, Mike. I'm glad you like it!

Rob: Thanks for the information, Rob. I have actually already molded the building, so I will keep your advice for my next Ardennes diorama.

Samuel

EDIT: I have progressed so far in the building of the diorama that I won't be able to incorporate any more suggestions, unless they concern the German figures (which I still havent' purchased). I plan on using the DML Cherkassy set Martyn recommended, and the Tamiya Wespe crew set Gerald mentioned. If I can find it, that is.

Many thanks to all the members who have posted. I really appreciate it.
