Hello everyone,
From what I understand there was a fairly comprehensive book on Russian camouflage schemes from 1939-1945 published some time ago but I can’t seem to find a copy.
Does anyone have the book I’m referring to? Is it worth buying? Is it still being published, do you know how I can buy a copy?
Also, does anyone else know where I can find any other good references for Russian WWII camouflage schemes?
As always, any and all advice, recommendations, and input will be greatly appreciated!
Take care,
Noah

Hi Noah,
I've the book mentioned by David in a german translation. Although russian/soviet camo hasn't been used in a variety as used by german forces, the pics are definitly worth the money (less than 20 Eur). It shows different kinds of marking, painting and slogans.
I definitly recommend it!
Militaria from poland published a book similar to the above. It's their issue #212 (Czolgi Stalina/Stalins tanks). It is based on the former mentioned book, cheaper, more drawings and fewer photos. Not bad either.

There are at least three Russian-language monographs on Soviet tank camouflage and markings. They are not well documented, or understood. In 1940 an order was circulated detailing an elaborate camouflage system using different combinations of different colours depending on geography. In practive, this was never more than partially implemented.
Only three colours were made available, the standby 4BO Protective Green and 7K "Yellow-Earth" and 6K Dark Brown. Some vehicles delivered in late 1940 and early 1941 were in camouflage, including BA-6s and T-34s. It was also applied at unit level, and for a while at least, T-34s from STZ were delivered in green and earth (Feb-Mar 42). After Barbarossa, the vast horde of Soviet tanks were a relentless green, with little relief. Winter white excepted, I believe multi-coloured camouflage was rare.
