Looking at the outer side panels of the Emhar Mark 4 male kit, I noted that the rivet pattern is quite unlike that of the Mark 4; in fact it appears to be like that of a Mark 1, if my research is correct. Am I right?

Landships does a good summary of the kits issues:

the rest of the site is pretty interesting too if you are into different kinds of stuff.
Hope this helps,
Steven

Oh, I know the site you mentioned. It was going through that, as well as reading my Osprey book on the Mark 4 tank, that led me to asking this question in the first place!
The review, BTW, is for the 1/72 scale version and not the 1/35 version which I have. But thanks anyway.

Don't think the rivet pattern on the sides changed much as the Marks I-IV were essentially the same design as far as the track frames went, though obviously the cabs and roof-plates were different.
But Emhar's Mark IV is a caricature anyway, so comparing it with anything is only going to depress you

I just got the Osprey book on the Mark 1. You aren't kidding.
