Well, I finished a tank, the first 1/35 scale tank I have completed since I was a teenager. This model was built OOTB with NO markings as I could not find two references to agree on what was really accurate. The purpose of this build was to have a painting pallet and to try out individual link tracks.

Color is handmixed British Light Stone or Portland Stone, depending on which book you have or believe. Paint is primarily airbrushed through an Iwata Eclipse. Tracks are the individual links from the kit. I used watercolor sludge washes and then blended with the airbrush. Sorry the pictures are lousy. I would really like any feedback you can give me so that I can improve. I am a newly converted armor modeler.

Thanks for looking...

Scott

Scott, I think that you did a nice wash on it it is subtle where it needs to be and more prominent on others, good job.

Personaly I don't like the overall color (to kakhi for me), but that is peronal.

Are you going to ad some weathering to it? I love the tracks (which brand?) BTW How was the build of this kit?

Ronny,

Thanks for the comments. The build was a lot of fun. It isn't a perfect kit, but it was very nice. The tank is actually quite weathered, but between my lousy digital camera and the fact that I wanted to keep it subdued, it is very low key. I wanted to model a typical North African tank with rust and dust but not mud. Tracks are rusty as is the cable and some of the bare metal tools.

The tracks were pretty nice, they were the ones in the kit. (It has both indis and rubber cheaters) but I am hamfisted so I broke a lot of them. The kit comes with some extras but be careful.

Check my post again, I think I have the pics issue fixed....

Thanks again,

Scott

I noticed that you did not paint your headlights yet and on the back there is a tool that normaly is in steel color, maybe something to adjust?

Ronny,

Good catch on the headlights. I will do that tomorrow. On the tool, the pics I had seen had all of the tools in the overall color of the tank, but I could paint it steel or rust it like the other tools...

Thanks for the comments...

Nice one Didiumus, For somebody new to armor, I think you have made a terrific job of this little ´beastie´ . The build looks nice and clean, and I think the colour is nice. The weathering is a personal thing and some (like me) like to dirty them up more than others, so I wont comment too much here. I like the tow cable...... it sits nicely on the tank and is something a lot of us have problems getting right. I think some paint chips would set of this tank nicely, in more worn areas, tow cable ends, etc..... and I personally would use some decals, even if they werent 100% right, rather than none at all. Things like decals, a bit of extra stowage and especially a figure ot 2, add so much life and scale to these models that it can make all the difference, and makes is a "stand out" model in its own right.
Keep them coming ...... for a first in 10 years.... you should be well proud of this.

Well, for a first AFV in years that is very, very impressive, you've got the subtle shading/weathering just right.. Just shows that with a decent kit out of the box, things can just be brilliant! Jim

Overall, you have a real nice little tank there. The weathering is subtle and you don't get the feeling the TC just finished second at the local mud bog competition. Ditto on Roadkill's comments on the headlights and decals, however. Chipped paint does nothing for me at best and is often really distracting most of the time.

Hi Roadkill, I tend to agree with Scott about the tool colour. I have been researching the Stuart l and have seen different photos with steel coloured and painted tools...

Actually this is also common on many German tanks as well...

Oh and BTW Scott nice job on the tank

Cheers, Michael

Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments and the help. I am going to paint/weather the headlights and do some light paint chipping this weekend. (Yikes)

I will also try to post some better pics. Now, which tank is next???

Yes that is true, I have seen that on pictures to, but more on German then Allied AFV's but that is beside the point.

I must admit that I personally love to see the tools in a metal color, because this tends to break the uniform color of the vehicle and creating a spot op interest, but like I said, that is for me personally

Good work! That is a peach of a kit, I have the Stuart in progress now. I like your subtle approach to weathering......I know it doesn't show up well in photos though.
