Well by request I'm posting pics of my second Maus superheavy tank. For those who don't know the MAUS was the heaviest tank produced by the German Army, wieghing in at a 188 tonnes. this version is equiped with a twin 88mm cannon, speculations from the plans captured at the Krupp plant put this one at just over 200 tonnes. and the crew went from the standard 5 man team to 7 (extra loaders.) Enough history....... here are the pics

The rear of the Maus. An addaptation from russian armour the Maus featured a jetisonable fuel tank. I used educated speculation and decided to do the fuel tank in a different camo pattern. I figured that if they were removable the could be changed if needed in a maintenance situation.

For this final pic is of both of Maus tanks together. On the left is my Nachtjager Maus, and most likely they will jion each other on the same base, kinda a releiving the watch type senario one comming in and one going out. This of course would have followed a victorious Ardennes offensive in '44. Sorry to those who live in Antwerp.
thanks for you patients, and any comments are welcome Stug (++) (++)

Great for AA fire.
Imagine how fast the loaders would be working.
They would need an attached wurzburg radar unit near them. (++) (++) (++) (++) piggies, until they get weathered.

Nice little tank!

The camo on the extra tank of the painted version looks a bit out of place. The lines look to skinny. I'm betting its based on reference, it looks deliberately done - yes , no, comments?

First the question, Slodder, i based that off of pics on Achtung Panzer, so if they seem small, I'm sorry. Also i forgot to mention the second Maus is far from complete, the tracks are in srious need of retouches and it needs some dirt and muck added to it. Now I give you a size comparison along side the Maus is a Panther D. drum roll please........................

enjoy and comments are still welcome Stug (++) (++)

Verrrry nice. I LOVE what you did with the fuel tank. Your paint jobs are very cool. So, do you like Dr Pepper more or less than Tamiya paints??

Can't wait to see them both finished...

Lord Stug, How nice!

A huge GUN tank for me!!! #:-) This is so approriate!!!!

You did justice to the twin 88 turret, this thing is awesome. Some more weathering, and you got your self a battle stopper.

I would hate to be the person on the other end of this monster.

Thanks Bro! Great Work!

Very nice indeed, they look total beasts, where did the variant with the twin 88s come from? As i am a total ignorant about these programs I hadn't heard about the twin 88s. The other I had heard of (apart from the searchlight mounted above the turret) Looking at these, one begins to see modern aspects (such as the light mounted on the M60s) begin to creep into the ww2 designs. The twin gun reminds me of the panther variant with the twin guns. Hold on, it wasn't a searchlight was it? It was infra-red....ahhhhhh..... Jim

Cleanly done, Steve. Can't wait to see it mucked up a bit. Thanks for the comparison shot, too, I never knew they were that big. Panthers aren't exactly tiny.

stug - I've seen your progress reports on other projects and seen your end results and I know you do your homework. It was more a curiosity question than anything else. No need to be sorry, some of those German camo patters were 'out there'.

OK the base kit is from DML, and the turret came Cheasapeake Model Design. Both are rather hard to find at the moment. But they fun builds and very rewarding in the "what if" side of things. The other question, the turret itself was only on the drawing boards and being just introduced to the prototype phase of production when the Krupp plant was overrun by invading russian soldiers. anymore questions are welcome stug
