Dear all,
I am looking at the old 1970s Tamiya Flak 36/37. Is there an option to create a Flak 37 from this kit by changing the barrel?
I am thinking of kit-bashing a Flak 37 on a T-34 chassis, one of those paper panzer in the last ditch defence. wonder if the cheaper tamiya kit is suitable for the job
Cheers

IIRC, the old Tamiya kit can be build as either a 36 or 37. separate parts for the recuperators are included. Not sure about the barrel, I think there is an option for an early or late barrel.

I think Henk is right.
Are you using a Tamyia T-34 too ?
Try the AFV Flak, it might be an option too, a much better kit and also a metal gun barrel included.
Post some in progress shots, it is an interesting project, a KV chassis might work too... might give it a try with a Trumpeter kit...

The AFV Club Flak 88 is a Flak 18 and wouldn't be suitable as a 36/37, just something to keep in mind when choosing.
Sounds like a very interesting project, I've always had a soft spot for those one-off ad hoc types, hope you're able to get everything you need to pull it off.

The Tamiya kit does have options to make an 8.8cm Flak 37. However, you should know that what makes any Flak gun a Flak 37 is NOT the barrel but the aiming equipment (despite what the Tamiya directions say). The difference between the Flak 36 and Flak 37 is that the Flak 37 was upgraded with dial face indicators for the loaders and the fuze setter.
These optional parts are in the Tamiya kit. Either barrel can be used and it would still be a Flak 37 (as the barrels were interchangeable between all marks of the Flak 18, 36, and 37).
Hope this helps
