Hello! What is the yellow material used to cover some areas for the anti slip surface? I see the purple masking liquid, but what did you used for the thin cracks?? Some kind of very thin masking tape??
Thanks for your help.

Hi there! Let me begin by saying I absolutely love the way you did the model!
However, on a more sour note, I have a question which might earn me some hate here: I've been doing some research and it seems that the Friulmodel ATL-49 tracks are incorrect for this model. I used them on the Meng Merk3D and it seems they are not correct there either. Any thougts on this? I've searched the net and a lot of great modellers seem to be using ATL-49 for Merkava Baz and 3Ds.
Please let me know what you think regarding the tracks overall on the baz and 3D.
Thanks!

Not to be "hateful", but there are plenty of pics of this exact track type on Merk3's. What would you consider more correct? I'm honestly curious here.
The only other track types out there, that I'm aware of anyway, are the Merk4 type and the Batash track fitted to Magachs, Merk2's and Achzarits.

What seem to me as the 'correct' tracks are the ones shown on the Merk3D pics and diagrams. These are different than the ATL-49 Friuls that I and several other used which have the two holes in the centre of each track link.

Okay. There are a couple of very similar types on Merk3's, and you will occasionally see the types with and without the "holes" on the same tank, so apparently they're interchangeable. The Desert Eagle book on the Siman3 has at least one pic of this, and I also seem to remember the same thing in the Ofer
Zidon book: "Modern IDF Armor".
I think it's an issue of "original" and "replacement" rather than "correct" or not, although I'm just going from pics here.
I"m happy with this until someone comes up with something else, and will use the ATL-49 set, or the equivalent Spade Ace set, on the Meng Merk3 in the stash when the time comes.

Your answer helps. I just needed to know that the Friuls aren't completely off. I've already built and weathered them and am about to add them to the tank. Thanks!
EDIT: The ATL-49 are different from the Spade Ace set.

Guido, just an amazing build! I do have two (2) question. Could you tell me what adhesive you used to hold the sand (anti-slip) in place and what is the purple color stuff that's been applied and what's the purpose of it?

Great job. Maybe I missed it, but what did you use to affix the non-slip powders?

Glad to have hopefully helped.
I'll look at the Spade Ace set, or order some, I have the Meng kit in the stash and haven't bought tracks yet.

Mates....please forgive me all of you. I'm awfully sorry as lost all of your discussions here. I never realized some of you had had a new start to this post. Forgive me.
I will try to respond.
Don't remember if tracks from SA were out in the market when I finished that BAZ. So maybe I was obliged to buy those from Friul. Anyway got a lot of pics of Baz and III D and both of those types of tracks are commonly used. That's all I can say. Someone asked about the antislip. That purple stuff is Maskol, used for covering all the areas without antislip. The powder I used at that time was "glued" with hairspray. First covered the areas without antislip....then hairspray and at the end the powder over.
Hope I was helpful and forgive me once again for my late.

Guido, would you, by any chance, be able to post a pic of the 3D with the friul-looking tracks? I am still working on this tank now.
Thanks!
Thanks!
