Nice conversion work, and as far as I can see, completely scratchbuilt...
Cannot wait to see the progress. Bravo!!!

Nice looking conversion, got a couple of questions though... What kit are you using for it, it looks like the Italeri to me... Where did the plans come from, and finally am I right in assuming that this is one of the home-converted vehicles that Israel was using as convoy protection vehicles in 1948? I've seen photos of some of the armored buses that were used to move settlers and supplies... It really is an interesting conversion and reminds me of some of the ww2 conversions done by the british such as the beaverette AC used for airfield defence. If you've got any links for this kind of vehicle, i'd be delighted to see them... Jim

Very nice conversion. It has taken a lot of work to get where you are.
Question - what kind of armorment is going to go in the gun ports?

I'm not trying to speak out of turn
but i have heard the history of this kit is that the molds started out as the Peerless kit and then were aquired by Italeri and nowadays the kit is sold by the russion company of Zverda (my spelling may be off) I recently aquired one of the zverda kits and it looks pretty much like the pic's minus the scratch building of course..
if this info is wrong then let me know, cause it is always nice to know the little things..

Thank you all for the nice comments, some info on the conversion
The kit is indeed the zvezda version of the whith scout car, which is italery.
not a super kit,but was good for the project. i built it based on some pictures from concord's (Zaloge) book mid east wars 48-73.
the idf converted this cars and used them mostly in the negev campign(if i recall)
ironicly, they were armed - as other IDF vhicles with german mg34, i think Czech made.

Very cool looking model. I really enjoy the "in progress" pictures of projects, really helps a person get a feel for all the effort that has gone into the kit!
Keep us posted on your progress!

That's great !
I've got the same kit and i'm saving it... for the same conversion !
The only thinh is that i'm still looking for plans... does anyone have anything ?
I might end up doing it from pictures like you but I lack the experience.

Penpen, this is exactly the sort of project you should try, this is typical of the kind of vehicle that the rivet counters hate, this is very typical of a field conversion where nothing is standard. In other words you wouldn't be building a production vehicle. The beaverette i mentioned before, was simply a lighly armored 'box' built on top of a standard commercial chassis, the White A/C was another example of this, using the excellent photos by E.Kaufmann you would be able to get the dimensions for the scratchbuild with a bit of patience. Remember the plates are scaled to a kit you already have... Go for it! ...jim

It`s nice to see that somebody actually builds something nice out of teh Zvezda White scout car.. I had that one too and I almost finished it out of the box but after two weeks of cleaning and trying to fix the warped parts, ejector pin marks and the terrible flash the kit had (maybe I had a bad mold or something) I finnaly could start building it and the fit was just as terrible as the mold was. It never became finished because I threw it in pieces, after 5 weeks work, against the wall and started with another project to get my bloodpressure down. How was your experience with the kit???
Anyway really nice vehicle you are building and I can`t wait to see it finished
