This is actually a really good subject. I see lots of dead cows in images and these fit the bill. Nice leg action too.

I agree with it being a good subject. It appears from photo's that the good old cow took a kicking during WWII and the horse also appears to have failed to find cover as well. Hopefully a prone version will appear also. The leg action is very good

Dead cow in the middle of the road....
Dead cow in the middle of the road....
Dead cow in the middle of the road....
Stinking to high heaven.
I'll need to pick one of these up to go with my non-bloated but equally dead horse.

Hey this is a great addition; udder brilliance! As mentioned there are plenty of photos showing bloated cattle etc. I have even seen a GI using one as cover...
For me it definitely a 1944 version though
On the purchase list for sure...

Didn't some of these come with zimmerit? Will we have to do our own or will a second dead cow with moulded on zimm be out soon?

Personally I'm not over convinced by it. The legs look too thick. I will reserve judgment though till I've seen it painted by someone who knows what a cow looks like. I dunno what kind of cow has those sort of "camouflage" markings. Before anyone flames me I have 10 cows on my land and live in the middle of dairy country and this one looks like no cow i have ever seen. If nothing else its too damned clean.

This model and the old 1/32 scale Revell/Matchbox DH 82 Tiger Moth would make a nice recent-events diorama based on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6reIUPfNjw

Eric: Didn't some of these come with zimmerit? Will we have to do our own or will a second dead cow with moulded on zimm be out soon?
Eric - Zimmerit was only applied to a few experimental cows during the period September 1943 - January 1944, and there's no documented evidence of any of them being used in the Normandy campaign, nor do C. Ream and P.A. Sturise make any mention of it in their tome "Cows in Combat on the Western Front, 1940 - 45".
Of course you could say "well there's no definite evidence of zimmerited cows NOT having being used either, is there", but if you're going to take that approach, then why bother getting anything right at all? You might as well just go ahead and paint your cows pink and have them being run over by a blue Sherman crewed by a bunch of nuns.
It's sloppy attitudes like that which drag our hobby down. And by the way: I'm an udder-counter - and proud of it!!
Seriously though guys, I think this is a great subject for a diorama accessory, though I'm not so sure that MK35 have pulled it off this time.
Maybe it's just the way it's been painted, but this sample looks a bit cartoonish to me. And I'm not sure about the angle of the protruding back leg either. It looks a bit odd - even for a dead cow. To my eye, it has more the look of a dancing cow that's just toppled over.

Oh the back leg thing is pretty realistic... It happens to sheep too. Thing is it tends to happen a while after they've been dead and start to fill with gas. At that point they don't tend to look that pristine though and the nice shiny eye would be gone to the first crow that came along. To me the problem is the colouring used and the fact it hasn't got s**t all over it. Especially the udders... I mean in theory they are pink. Under the layers of grime and excrement. One thats been dead for a little while would not be pink at all.

Great addition to any wartime dio. On a less serious note, the "France 1940" got me thinking.
First, I didn't know, that cows came in different versions, like the pnzIV. (Cow, ausf G, mid production...) I can picture people taking apart a diorama, because Jersey cows were put into an Eastern Front surrounding
Second, like the in the case of pnzIV, the camo possibilities are endless... (Though it really should look dead. The colors are all too vivid on the box.)

Terrible paint job on the box art though - like it's a Bf-109 or something. Black-and-white cows have rather 'hard edge' spots on them, none of this fancy feathered airbrush stuff. And the white is usually smudged, especially on the belly, whence the cartoonish look of this one. They do not live in operating rooms but on fields...
But hey, don't have a cow man...
