Hi,

am going to build a Strv 122, the Swedish model of the Leopard 2A5 with armour similar to the A6EX version. I have researched the vehicle quite a lot and on all the pictures I have seen, the mud flaps at the rear are folded up and pinned. How can I replicate this? I had looked at Plasticard but I don't really take much joy in scratchbuilding. A guy from sweden who built this called Anders Isaksson has got his flaps folded and pinned. Is it a photo etch set or something?

Please tell me If you know!

At first glance i would say that they are photo etch. Should not be to hard to do.

cheers from the sandbox

Joshua, when I built mine I talked to Anders a number of times, and if memory serves me correctly he used thin plastic card, and this is what I ended up doing on mine. The plastic card is really pretty easy to use, and I used very thin wire for the hooks to hold the mud flaps. If you really don't want to deal with it, the Eduard PE set includes mud flaps that you can bend into position.

Hi, have you got ander's e-mail? There are few things I want to ask him. I think I'll stick with the photo etch set, sounds easier!

Cheers

Sorry Josh I don't, my computer crashed a couple of years back and I lost a lot of stuff, including Anders e-mail address. You might want to check some of the Swedish sites, Plastic Warfare, IPMS Stockholm, you may find it at one of them.

Best,
Mike

Sorry to hear bout your PC! It's okay, I'll get the PE set. I can't be bothered to scratch build.

Cheers
