I'm sure this question has been asked dozens of times, but I'm having a hard time finding answers on the net. Can anyone recommend some figure painting tips/directions on modern camo like CADPAT, MARPAT and ACU, specifically in 1/35th scale?

Look on Calvin Tan's web site 'Perspectives in Miniature' at his recent posts August, there he illustrates how he painted the digital camo and there is a paint chart to go with it.
Hope this is some help.

Yeah, those are the Shinsengumi cammo decals. They have woodland BDUs, DCUs, ACUs, and woodland and desert MARPAT (aka, CADPAT), among others.

I was one their site a little whileago, and I only saw the BDU & DCU paterns. I didn't see the ACU patern. Saw JSDF & Waffen SS patterns, too.

I recently attepted digital camo on a 1/35 figure and was quite pleased with the outcome of what I thought would be a first time technique attempt.
I used an infants size toothbrush and cut probably 98% of the bristles off, leaving only some at the tip.
After applying the base coat I would dip the brush into just slightly thinned colours and dab it onto the uniform.
I was suprised at how well it turned out.

Jim--take a look at the following list from HLJ here to see all of Shinsengumi's products. For some reason, the Shinsengumi site doesn't list the digital cammo patterns, but they are definitely for sale. Check out this thread for a series of pictures of what the ACU decals look like, and how they go on.

I may have to get a set of those decals, while it would be tedious the end result would look much cleaner.
