Excellent little dio. and great work all around. Very, very impressive and the figures work really well with the truck.

The only thing I would change out is the officers pistol holster, I'd switch it for a flapped holster and pouch on the belt,

Really great stuff I wondered when one of these would come along, I bought the kit with the very same thought in mind, still in the box though!! Any build or fit issues?

Great diorama Keith !!
One question though, as Alan pointed out, the officer's wearing a pistol belt and holster.
He's not wearing a Red Cross brassard, can't see any medical insignia but I'm assuming he's with the RAMC and he's in charge of the ambulance.
As a non-combatant, he's allowed to defend himself but should he be wearing a pistol ??

I don't know about Commonwealth policy or WWII policy (I don't think it was different though), but modern medics, medical officers, and such wear pisols and/or carry M16/M4 rifles. The key is that they are only supposed to use them in self defense. According to US military policy, the only one not authorized to carry a weapon is a Chaplain.

it looks great ii really love the base im really tempted to get a Great north roads base

the figures looks smashing so is the ambulance the weathering on it is subtle but great

i know you shouldnt use films as reference but an austin ambulance travelled across the eygptian desert trying to get to alex and they pick up a german spy who pretends to be south african and they reach alex and have an ice cold beer its really intereasting

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies, the title is purely "Ice Cold" as it refers to the Ky2 in the film "ice cold in Alex" which i hoped some people would understand and even watch the movie as a consequence to see what it is all about.

The model its self goes together quite well, i did review it a while a go anyway. The only real pain is having to paint all the interior and seal it up before painting the exterior. I also had a small problem with fitting the roof to all the sides and front windscreen due to a little resin over pour in the grove on the roof, a little bit of work with a micro chisel and some wet and dry sorted it out.

I wasn't over happy with the holster but due to the way the belt is sitting on the figure I needed something to add some weight to it and as the holster came with the figure it was the obvious choice.

The great roads ruin is a little large to be used on its own, but cutting it up as I have done will give me two or three other similar back drops. but adds i think a little extra to the scene as well as some height and the grey colour contrasting against the sand colours.

again thanks for the comments, although i must also point out that the actual base and figures took just four days from start to finish to do and it was built to give me back some sanity during another project that wasn't going as well

If I'm not mistaken, the title comes from the movie Ice Cold in Alex. I haven't seen the movie in decades, but as I recall, it's about an ambulance crew making their way across the desert. There's a scene at the end with some of the soldiers drinking a beer in a pub. That scene was used for a beer commercial in the UK in the 80's for Tenants.

Nice to know advertizing works - it was Carlsberg. John Mills downs the beer in one go and says the line "Worth waiting for" Carlsberg used the scene untouched as in the movie they used a carlsberg glass. John Mills said he had to do the scene 7 or 8 times and was completely drunk after it.

Incidentally John Mills as the Officer wore a pistol in the film until he was relieved of it by a passing German Patrol.
