Hello, I recently dug out this old unfinished scratch built 1/6th scale Tiger and have started work on it again. This tank hull and turret was started back in early 2001, and has been in storage ever since. I have been working on the model since early October and it is almost ready for painting. Most of the model's details and components are either made out of Metal or Resin.
When I first dug the model out of storage
*note the spray paint tops used for the final drives, these were installed when the model was first built. These were replaced by better detailed Resin ones
Model with Reworked final drives and lower hull detials
I also gave the model a removable Snorkel.

Ah, now there's the pics! Darn impressive (severe understatement)! You have some serious skills. 1 billion times the skills I have. Where the heck are you going to put this thing? My opinion, put a v8 in it and drive around town!
I can't wait to see this finished!

Quite some task you have set yourself there John, and one you appear to be beating. I don't go much for its life expectancy in the field with all those wingy thingies coming after it though.

Thanks Everyone,
The Entire tank is scratch built. To aid in my construction I cast all of my own components out of resin. I also offer my resin and metal components for sale on my website (eastcoastarmory.com) for other 1/6th scale armor modelers who need the same components for their 1/6th models. There are a few other individuals who do the same service.
The only components that you see on my tiger that are not my own are the two front hatches and the ABS track links, these were purchased from another 1/6th scale part supplier (Panzerwerk) My rear idler wheels are also ABS plastic and were acquired from another source.
I still enjoy building armor in 1/35th scale, When I do build my 1/35s I prefer to build them out of the box, or with a minimal amount of scratch building or kit bashing. I find it easier to scratch build in this large scale. For me I can put the same amount or more of an effort in scratch building in the larger scale and the larger size of all of the components make the small details not only easier to fabricate but the size makes the small details more vissible
I have made some progress on the model.

I currently don't have the Late copula, for this model I will be making the early drum copula. If I ever do build a mid/ late tiger I would make the Copula as a kit.
I have just finished off the tank's loaders Hatch, I will be working on the copula now. Once the copula is finished The tank will be very close to painting.

Hey John, I just noticed that Jagdpanther in the background of one of the photos in your first post. Are we going to see more of it when you've finished this one?

The Jagdpanther is going to be my next model. I will be posting a build post when I start it. Unlike most of my 1/6th models I will be building it RC.
I have completed and installed the tank's early drum copula. The model will soon be ready for painting.

The pattern is complete and the tank is now ready for its markings and weathering. The model should be ready to hunt down some T34s by the end of the week :-P

Thanks everyone for the compliments, I have completed the tank's markings and weathering. The tank's cammo and markings are from Kharkov April 1943. The model will be on it's tracks soon.

It looks fantastic mate! The only thing that I can notice as being strange is how far down the rear plate goes. I haven't noticed it before now, but I'm sure theres a reason for it.
