Is there a way to cancel our forum account or do we have to ask one of the mods to do it?

Hi Chris,
Well, I have to ask you, why would you want your account cancelled?

I hope that your experience here at KitMaker hasn't been a bad one mate, because I firmly believe that you're not going to find a better hangout, my friend...But to answer your question, the only one that has access to members accounts is the boss, Jim Starkweather, and you would have the best luck contacting him via e-mail to discuss the matter...

As stated in the past we don't 'cancel' accounts.

Chris,
It helps to know your problem with the account, too. You can just abandon the account and start a new one, if that's what you're looking to do. Just edit out all the info in the original account, so, it's blank, then, just register as a new user and use that from now on.
Essentially, you are creating a "sock puppet" account, but, if you completely abandon the old account, you shouldn't have any problems. However, using both accounts may create a bad situation. That's why it's frowned upon.

So, why the query?
Just wondering,
Cuhail

First, this is a great site to be on and see all the amazing builds going on and completed here. When I first started modeling when I was 8 years old I did military models like the Harrier, patton tank, and a bunch of others, and sometimes I built cars and other non-military related kits as well. But compared to the others on this site my military modeling is in a word crappy, but I tried. Its the weathering thats hard for me to get down no matter how much I practice it all the time. Plus I get messages from the rivet counters , most are just helping by pointing out discrepincies in my builds or kits I use, and some theres just no pleaseing at all. I build to build as a hobby not scientific reasearch and enginering like a real 1:1 vehical would have in its building or development. If it has a few things out of place oh well. Plus the amounts of money to fix some of those things is crazy in what you can buy as and upgrade or add-on to the kit. But I feel better suited in My automotive building and detailing. An example of one I built about a few months ago below.

I know most of the critisism is to help to fix some things that are off. But I guess all in all I dont feel like I belong in this type of upper echelon on builders on this forum. Most of the time I feel out of place. I Dont mean to sound like I'm on a soap box sobbing or anything, just stateing how I feel.

Why don't you just do what I do, build what you like, the way you like, and not worry about what others think.
I've been building for 50 years, and it's still a just hobby, not a life or death situation.
If people don't like what I build or how I do it, it's their problem, not mind.

Wow, nice model, man! Friggin awesome!

As far as the rivet counters go, just say thanks. You have no obligation to model at someone elses standard, just your own. If that's the worst part of your experience here, let me tell ya, you just need to relax and settle in. Someone could easily post into one of my threads and say everything I did was wrong, but, if it's to my own liking and skill level, I don't change it. I absorb the critiques and advice from the others and try to apply it to the next build I do.
You shouldn't take it so negatively when those here at KitMaker try to help you in the individual way they can, it's what they have to offer you. Take it as it's given, as a friendly gesture. (This is one of the most wonderful things about the modeling community, we share everything, technique and research-wise)

Settle in. Read a lot of threads and try to see the effect that our community has on itself, as far as the communication between the modelers is.

You'll find yourself chuckling at those who insist that there should be an average of 36 assorted bugs marring the front of that beautifully built stockcar!

Hope I've helped,
Cuhail

Hi Chris,
Yep, it is a great site, friendly, some great models on display and a lot to of techniques you can learn.
As for when you started modelling, we have all been there, none of us started out as excellent modellers, and we all have "dogs" in our finished piles.

Weathering, the one part of the build I love to do, it takes practice, lots of, there is tons of tutorials on this site that can help.
As for the "rivet counters", they are a good and bad thing rolled into one. They have helped our hobby by keeping the manufacturers on their toes by bringing out decent accurate kits, but they can get a little overpowering at times. The best way of I found of "dealing" with them is by stating the kit is being built "out of the box", that way any parts that are wrong with it aren't your fault . As for all the aftermarket stuff, sometimes I add it, sometimes I don't, depends on my mood with the kit. No one is forcing you to buy it, so don't feel obligated that you have to have it, 90% of my builds are OOB.

Hell have you seen my builds, utter crap, I should have left years ago then .
Watch, take notes, enjoy and learn. You belong here my friend.

That is one great looking car. The detail looks excellent. Post this on automodeler , they will love it.

Thanks a lot guys. I dont mind critisism that points out easily fixable thigs, thats all good. I like the challenge of building it better the next time. Im pretty sure you guys can see my weathering from the beginning up to now from when i first joined is way different and a little better. I'll keep on trucking and building any and all models i can. Thanks again. now to figure out what kit to buy next and what to do to it when i get it

Wow! Fantastic car build! I can tell that you added a lot of the plumbing by scratch. Why not do the same with an armor kit -maybe a big 1/16 scale tank, and super-detail the engine bay as you've done with the car? Don't worry about weathering it at all, that way. Keep it up!
