There have been a lot of very good ideas floated here, some of which we are able to act upon in the near future and some that we will need to do some checks on. Initially we are going to stick with running an advanced class Jan to May and July to November, and an intermediate/beginner class in June and December. If DML are willing to up the number of prizes they offer we will look at altering the classes further or looking to see if we can find an alternate supplier will run another competition to cover more fields.
Regarding what the prizes are going to be, that is just is not possible as DML don't know what the prizes are going to be until we notify them of who the winners are. I like the idea of E-mailing members that a competition has gone live and inviting you all to vote, my concern is that some may see it as spam.

I think quartely would be best for begginers. I would really like to echo sweaver and Marco though. The DMOM really needs to be advertised better. It used to be. I have entered several of my models in the past but have not done so in about a year or so mainly because most of the time I wasn't sure if the contests where still going on or not. In fact, I just got kind of lucky that I spotted the voting for the current DMOM. Even if I do not enter, I have voted nearly every time that I knew the DMOM was taking place.

I have heard it said that it used to be better advertised but I am not aware of any changes having been made, if I am wrong in this please could you enlighten me. I do agree we need to do something to better advertise the DMoM though.

What we had in the past was a thread about submission period being open like this one . Liked I proposed for the voting thread it would be good if the submission thread could be pinned up during the submission period.

CMOT,
In the past when the submission period began there was a post about it. Then periodicly the post would be "bumped" by announcing XX amount of days left to get your submission in and then a final post announcing the end of the submission period. However, for sometime now, I, for one, i have seen practiclly nothing regarding the DMOM. A few months ago I began to wonder if the DMOM was even still going on so I finally posted the question in the forums! The post was quickly answered and confirmed the contest was still happening but the staff member who manged the contest was having personal issues and finding it difficult to manage the contest. That was cool with me. I feel the staff do an outstanding job especially considering you all have lives and do what you do strictly voluntarily. But having said that, In my opinion, it seems like the DMOM went to the back burner and stopped being the highly successful program it once was.

Rick and I have now taken on the DMoM with the exception that for now Henk will still arrange delivery of the prizes, between Rick and I we hope we can give the DMoM the time and exposure the DMoM needs to keep it the success it has been. We will make a point of posting that we are accepting entries for the DMoM, and count it down as suggested, we will also keep bumping up the number of days left to you all to register your vote. Remember this is run to award the excellent work the membership puts on this website, and it is up to you all to support the DMoM as best you can when you can.
