Hi everyone,
it is the right time to finish this building, because the oils on my Kubelwagen are still drying and I do not want this one to be left behind. I started already in September and the carriers are almost done, painted with primer and preshading on as well. I will assembly the wheels, when they are painted. I will take some fresh pictures tomorrow and more can be seen here:

Hi everyone, I have done more work on my Karl, mainly on the gun and loading tray is also finished. In next days I am going to finish my LWS at last, and my "big kubel" as well. Some cool stuff has arrived for railroad Stop, Look and Listen campaign, another is coming, so I hope to post there soon.
I am afraid I gotta leave my 1/16 King Tiger behind for now.

Thanks, Darren,
I am bringing a little progress. The upper part is almost done and I will continue with chassis and the wheels. Some painting will be necessary soon, before the completed parts go together. This is my last kit to finish before I start really huge thing for Stop, Look and Listen campaign. I gues that will keep me busy for the rest of this year. Here is some picture from today, more at my website, link above. Thank you for looking, any comments most welcome.

This one, 040 Adam, will come in grey. I will build another one, late version, which will come in three colored camo, but it wont be soon, now I am finishing my idea for railroad campaign, huge thing. I am just going to put some details to campaign topic, and that will bring a lot of work. I hope you did deal with the hooks and airhoses?

Hi Libor.

I finished mine a while ago now and painting it in the grey after it was completed wasn't the best idea.. Better off painting some pieces like the support arms before glueing them together as it is hard to get into the nooks and crannies afterwards. Same with the mortar itself, paint the deeper recesses first! Also, the engine exhausts are much easier if they are done before assembling them.

Good luck mate as it is a great thing when finished.

Gee that rust on those tracks looks bright!

Hi Warren,
nice one you got there! I agree and I never do painting of whole model, but smaller or bigger completed parts, depending on kit, always to be able to reach easily everywhere with
my airbrush. I have glued on the engine exhausts, but I am going to use brush around them, as this area will be rusty and dirty, when finished. Thanks for looking.

wow the grey should b really cool. i cant wait to c it finished! how long do u expect the whole model to be? size is a huge factor for me when it comes to buying new kits.
and yes, i finished the hooks with some original plastic parts and some floral wire and yesterday, i primed everyting except the tracks. i will post pictures up today.
i still have to figure our the airhoses though.
is this build for the stop, look, listen?

Thank you, guys.
To Jeff, just grey paint on this one, colored camo on 041 in the future
To Andrew, Leopold 96cm, BR 52 88 cm and this one 85 cm, not to long, are they? I have checked your progress, you are going ahead, buddy. And the last thing, it is only my opinion, but I think that using chains to connect cars together on railway would be against safety. Maybe someone had done that, but I have never seen a chain used.
Tomorrow I hope to paint the carriers and arms, so some fresh pictures should turn on.

Looks really good Gravedigger
I did mine in Adam too (After a name incident...). I think yours will turn out better than mine though. Are you in the Incoming II/Big Guns Campaign?

Good luck on the project, it's going to be a larger underatking than you might think, and then again maybe not. I thought I'd finish mine in a month. It's now just finally done.

Thanks, Richard,
I had missed your build here somehow, so I checked it now. It is not bad at all, and many handy links are mentioned there. I hope to see some finished pictures soon.
I have glued the most, what could be done so far, and tomorrow I am going to start with surface primer and maybe some preshading. I am not sure about the final grey paint, should be RAL 7021, but almost all pictures I have seen so far, show Karl in much lighter tone of grey - RAL 7024 or 7012 like, I´d say.
Adam in Kubinka Tank Museum

This is RAL 7021

I´ll have to give it a try, some pictures then.

model masters has an RAL7021 that i almost bought for my Br-52 that is lighter than that color sample you poster if it intrests you. i didnt buy it because it's enamel and i like to use acrylic 1st so the washes and stuff do not mess up the base color. i learned the hard way on my T-34 came out ok though...

Yeah, This one is Lifecolor, and I think the lifecolor paints are most close to the color card. I will try some experiments with different paints and choose the one best looking to me. I suppose to follow the picture from the box of the kit (for change , I did the same with my LWS). But sometimes these pictures look very good, even fading or weathering they show, so why not. Karl is big one and many shadows, lights and fading will be required to break up monotonous appearance of painting.
I do not use enamels neither, just some very special metallic paints from Gunze. Tamiya and Lifecolor are my top class.
Today I got very good news, 1/35 heavy 80ton Plattformwagen SSyms has been sent to me, so my built for S,L&L campaign will be like 180 cm in length. I just have to finish my Karl before I start the train diorama.

Thank Andrew. Back from the hospital I started with large painting job. Once it is done and parts put together, big work on fading, rust and dust will be needed. Here are new pictures:

WOW that looks like a big piece of work! But a very clean build and paint. I think you'll need many bottles of pigments and oils Looking forward to the progress.

Thanks, A.W.
I agree, this kit takes a lot of stuff, all my Tamiya German grey´s gone and I still need more for some parts. Main building has been done, the decals and varnish coat over it, and today I want to start with oils. Also Friulmodel tracks to be done in between. Some pictures here, more can be found at my website:

I have finished with oils, panzer filter and washes will be used, when the oils dry, then rust and dust for finish appearance. I was afraid that grey paint would be too dark, but it is not bad at all. Fresh pictures are here:

Most excellent progress Libor! Your paint job has turned out well, nice suttle weathering and pigment use. Thanks for the updated photos!
