I think that is a real good colour to make a faded vehicle. Especially with some washes and colour variations it should come out really great! You have my attention.

Thanks Jurjen, unless I hear some serious negatives, I'll keep going as is.

Oddly enough, the PS paint brought out some casting and building flaws ( ) that I'll need to work on. The armored hubs are painted and I hope to be able to sit down sometime today and do the tires.

Ola all....been a week or two? Anyhow, too tired to mess with pictures so those will probably follow tomorrow.

Both the hull and turret/barrel are painted in the PS Soviet Green. I'm comfortable that all the "irregularities" have been fixed. Pretty much other than some OVM, little things, and the tires (weathering too), it's about done.

Started my Masters on Monday, so time has, again, been reduced.

MTF,

Ola again....here's a picture of where I'm at right now. Hopefully, I'll get some "tire" paint on tonight:

Okee Dokee....paint is just about done.

Flat black is on for the tires...that'll get toned down with some drybrushing and pigments. The body and turret will get an umber wash and I'm thinking that for the exhaust shields I'll use the MM Russian Army Green for some color variation....and maybe on one of the engine access panels.

I have some decals for it, and tho the one picture I have shows no numbers, I'll add a set (much like Jacques did) for additional variation.

Oh, a couple of the wheels didn't want to sit on the ground, so I carefully popped their supports, readjusted things and shot a fair amount of glue in there. That was two days ago and all eight wheels still want to play nice and sit level.

Here's a shot showing what I did with the Model Master Russian Green:

Not too much left to do until I hit it with future and put some numbers on it and a wash.

Quick picture of the front end. Not sure what to do about the "optics" though..

So....Future is applied. I've added a set of turret decals and the "squared 13." I doubt that this is in any way accurate, but the decals add a little bit of "something" to the build:

Still need to paint the pully on the rear deck and the saw on the right rear.

Really nice build of an uncommon subject ! Thanks for sharing.
It looks like SP Designs offering is getting better and better as regard with resin casting and detail sharpness.

Olivier,

Thanks for the positive vibes.

The SP Designs Zhalo conversion had it's minor issues. Nothing that a modeler of basic talents can't overcome....I like it. Niffty conversion. The SP Designs "Armored Hubs" required a little more attention. Hubs and tire treads were very nice....just my sample had some air bubbles on the nut area of the hubs. Easily fixed, but.....should not have needed to do that. All's good tho.

I really hope to pull out the washes this weekend.... It IS time for an update, ain't it??

I like where this is going...
Got a question about markings you used. Are they fictional or did you manage to find a pic of that beast?

George,

Thanks. The markings are fictional; the "squared 13" and numbers are from the Dragon kit. The 13 supposedly would go to an East German vehicle. The numbers went on the turret just to "give it something" above.

My intent is to just dirty it up and dust it as if it was coming back from trials.

Well been watching this build all the way and i have enjoyed keeping tabs on it. Love it so far and am interested in seeing how you weather it. How will you get the dusty look on the vehicle I have never really attempted that properly so your tips will be useful. Cheers

The BTR is still shiney from the future coat and the washes. I'll spray it with a flat coat before I do the pigments. That'll dull things up properly.

Okeedokee.....I'm calling this one complete. (I think?)

Sprayed with a matt finish and allowed to dry for two days. I then used a gray pigment on it:

Nice one Mike. When it was shiny I was a bit scary about the final result but you got it right.
Very original model !
