Very nice, good action set of figures. I don't know much about Sviet equipment but weren't their helmets smooth on top?

Not early ones , the M1936 helmet had a pimple on top on was based on the swiss design. The helmet you are thinking about was the M1940. It was quite alot differant. The M1936 had a much longer rim at the front as well. And the figures look GREAT

What!!! They aren't sitting around eating borscht, and drinking vodka?
I actually like the fluid motion they show, can't wait to see the other sets in the series.

While I was editing the images, prior to posting, one of the things that struck me was how similar it looked to one of those Soviet propaganda posters Dramatic movement, heroic gestures etc. etc. The thing is, if almost any other sculptor had done it, it probably WOULDN'T have worked as well. With the sculpting here, it DOES work - at least for me...

These figures really capture movement and the scene really well.

Not for the Winter War as they would have been wearing Great coats but with a change of helmet they would do for the Continuation War as the Soviet uniform changes didn't come in 'til 1943.

Not unless you want to show them all freezing to death - that entire campaign was fought in the dead of winter.

It's odd, the officer is obviously based on a famous picture, but in the photo he's holding a TT-33 pistol instead of the old revolver they've given him. Still, very decent looking figues for an early-war dio.

Nice looking figures. It's good to see more early war stuff. You could probably use them for Khalkin Gol against the Japanese in 1939.
