Hi..
i was sitting here looking at the numerous photo's and dio's and after a couple of hours i found myself wondering..is there any pattern to the models we choose to make..is it the skill level they require,or just personal preferance?..i have found myself going more towards ww2 armour english and german tanks..i don't know why but the more recent tanks challenger..ect seem to hold no appeal and i feel they have no character..is this just me? or is there anyone else that finds this is the case??

Hi Andy,

The host of this Discussion Group, Jim Starkweather, will need to move it - I'm confident he'll do so when on-line

No need to apologise

And welcome to Kitmaker and nice KV-1 you have there

As I said, Jim will move this thread, so let's run with your topic

I don't choose kits based on skill level, but rather on subject - if it appeals to me, inspires me, calls out to me... I'll buy it. Naturally overpricing on a kit may put me off.

My main WW2 interest is currently German, as frankly I find it more interesting that OD or Khaki BD's, so that's always my first choice. That said, if a subject or other kit calls out to me I might go that route. An example of this is the M8 HMC I'm building & blogging - not my usual subject, but I was looking for a fun build

I'm not really a fan of post-WW2 stuff (quite honestly most modern tanks look the same to me), so I very seldomly have my interest piqued in such subjects.

i agree guys WWII tanks have more character to them. i build WWII coz both my grandfathers fought in WWII my mom's dad fought in africa with the desert rats and my dad's dad landed with the invasion troops on Normandy, he later drove a staghound. as they both died before i was born i could never ask about their experiences in the war so for me building WWII stuff in miniture brings me closer to them, lets me think did my granddad see these tanks in action..etc modern stuff all looks the same except russian mbt's they still hark back to WWII but i haven't felt the impulse to build any modern russian armor... yet. lol Ant
