Here are some shots from this weekends work.
Got both sets of tracks on. The second one was easier, I used a crappy old big paint brush to apply a large amount of Tamiya thin cement to the links, the links are stuck to low tack masking tape.
This time they stayed together long enough to put it in place with no problem.
I pulled the add on side armor off, I didn't like how it looked or fit and it bowed really bad. I am thinking of making the file scar on one side a weld line for a hull penetration repair. I like my tanks really beat up.
This last shot is more how the colors actually look.
I think I will mask off the hull and boggies and spray the tracks with steel rather then brush paint them. I can brush touch up any place the airbrush cant get.
I really need to get some future and a flat clear in a can. I plan on doing some washes and dirt on this and the M26, I just keep forgeting to go to a hardware store for future, none of the grocery stores carry it.

Got a Griffon Model handle tool so I added some handles to this kit.
Great little tool for under 5 bucks.

I built this kit in early september. It was a difficult, but rewarding kit. I wish Dragon would do more US AFV's.

Yeah it was a very fun kit, I wouldn't build it the same way the second time around, like I wouldn't bother building the HVSS suspension as movable.
I don't really like the turret add on armor either. I almost popped it off and built it as a standard E8...
Still though, they make great Sherman kits. I know just need something with a A57 in it and I will have a Sherman kit with each engine type, since a older M4A2 76 Russian army kit came in.

Nice looking E8 Jon. Im hoping to get mine finished sometime soon and hopefully get some photos on here. I used the fruil tracks. Still not put them on yet but they are built. I also used the Archer 6th Armd Div transfers with the large speed numbers. Hand made turret rails, lead foil tarpover stowage on the rear deck. Coming along nicely. Just never enough hours in the day!!
