It just came in the mail yesterday and am wondering if anyone here has built it and is there any tips, errors in it?

Just look at those full color instructions (++)

Oh, and should I paint the road wheels before I paint the bottom half of the tank?
Wouldnt the road wheels get sprayed over?

Hi Timber. There's a review of the Hornisse kit in the latest issue of FSM. That kit would be very similar to the new Nashorn (I have the Hornisse waiting to be built) so it might be worth taking a look at.

As far as painting the roadwheels goes, that's just personal preference. Usually, I will paint the wheels separately, but if I am doing a muddy, dirty, or dusty tank, I can get away without painting them separately. For me, it depends on the look I am trying to achieve. Others, like Dave (at least, when he used to build armour, that traitor!), seem to be able to paint everything using their airbrush after it's been built.

On the PMMS site, is this review. It also compares it's faults with that of the Hornisse (kit nr 6165).

Good luck. I am building the Hornisse, which is good fun to build so far...

Cheers,

Harm

You seem to be off to a good start. I'll be doing my horniesse soon and hopefully will do a spray of most of the parts while they are still on the sprue. I find I just have to minor retouches after consturction is complete!!!! but i might reccomend using a mask for your road wheels Tape works great in that area. STUG

I've been working on the same kit and my only gripe with it is all the nasty ejector pin marks in the fighting compartment

Here is a link to a fix for the Hornisse from PMMS, don't know if they also apply to the Nashorn. Found em, while looking for References for my Hornisse. Hope it helps.

Started the gun yet ? I have comleted that, and it looks awesome... I have build it up to the point where I have to add the front fenders, and the side-armor...

This model appeals so much, that I might buy the Hummel, Nashorn and the Hornisse in a few months, but then with AM stuff...

Hi Timberwolf. From your pictures it appears that you have installed the jig for the rear barrel clamp. I hope you did not glue it. Did know that this is not to be glued but is just there to help you position the ends of the barrel clamp. Actually on my model I have found that this is positions the barrel clamp arms a little too low and the barrel clamp therefore rests not on the compartment floor but on the fuel caps. Hope this helps.

OOPs. You are building the Nashorn not the Hornisse. The two parts in question (H19 and H20 ) should not be used at all as there is no barrel clamp. Still, hope you haven't glued it. The instructions have a number of errors a list of which can be found in any review of the kit. Try this URL: http://pmms.webace.com.au/reviews/vehicles/dragon/dr6165.htm or http://pmms.webace.com.au/reviews/vehicles/dragon/dr6166.htm

Good job with the build so far Timberwolf. I am almost finished with my Hornisse now and have found the kit to be wonderful. Since these kits are almost identical, I am sure you are having a blast.

I've actually found that the new color instructions are harder to use than the old diagram style instructions. There are a number of places where the placement of parts is a bit confusing and would have be better illustrated with a diagram.

Can't agree more. The colour instructions are pretty to look at but not very helpful when trying to build the model.
