With My Scimtiar build complete and I am unable to paint at the moment due to lack of paints and thinner!.

I thought I would make a start on my next project for my older brother who is currently on his second tour this time in Afganistan.

The introduction of Wrap Two is also just one part of a larger scheme to upgrade the Army's armoured vehicles on tour. The British forces are always looking for ways to counter current threats on operational tours, and one of the methods of achieving this is through growing its equipment capabilities. In early 2008, the British Army had fitted a new generation armour system to the Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) deployed to Iraq called "Wrap Two".This armour upgrade package was rapidly developed in the second half of 2007, with the kits sent to Kuwait where the upgrade work was carried out by a mixture of civilian and specialist military personnel. The upgraded Warrior IFV were then returned to Iraq.

This is fitted to the hull front and sides of the Warrior IFV. The Wrap 2 " (WRAP2) is the replacement for the bar armour and provides a higher level of protection against a wide range of battlefield threats including the RPG-7. It is understood that the new " Wrap Two" armour package is similar to that already fielded on the BAE Systems Land Systems FV432 Mk 3 (Bulldog) uparmoured vehicles deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. This is a mixture of passive and explosive reactive armour that covers the hull sides with the lower part of the suspension being protected by Bar Armour.Turret of the Warrior IFV retains the Bar Armour and the upgraded Warrior IFV is also fitted with wire cutters for the driver, commander and gunner as well as electronic devices to counter improvised explosive devices (IED).

Now onto the kit!. I started with Academy's Warrior MCV "Iraq 2003" kit. I wanted to get the hull together as soon as possible so I could crack on with the Resin!, The hull was easy to put toegether with just the top and bottom glued together and the back added. I had no problems besides some filler will be needed to fill a gap betwen the back of the hull and the top half.

Right some more progress!, added the Resin belly armour to protect the Warrior against IED's.
The fit was pritty good, I had some cleaning to do but nothing major or time consuming.

Then I had to chop the hub's down in order to fit the Front additional armour.

Some progress!.

I added the frontal armour but I had to take it off because it wasnt sitting properly. But first I had to heat the frontal armour because it had warped but somehow I managed to burn my fingers with my mum hairdryer :o .
Then I added the plastic handles, engine grills and other equipment.

Then I started on the running gear with adding the various idler wheels.
I have trimmed the suspention so it can be adjusted to sit lower so it is accurate.

This build is going very slow I havn't really had chance to do much modelling of late .

But hoefully that will change on the weekend

Right some progress!

I glued the BAR armor on. This Warrior does way a fair bit now

Then I had to trim the suspention so it could be lowered into the correct position

.

Thats all for now!

Seb there is already a review on the kit I think.

The kits ok the instructions can be vaige. You need some reference on the vehicle before you start building it. Its a good kit The BAR armor looks nice but it looks very fiddely .

But The detail is superb I am loving the conversion and some TLC would make this a superb model

A wee bit of wrong terminology.....It is not bar armour....it is slat armour.

Try dipping the resin parts in boiling water if you need to straighten them...the flexibility lasts longer and you won't burn your fingers.

Great model so far, are you painting it the dark green colour with loads and loads of dust or the tan?
