Hi all,
This is a long post for me, but needs to, so I can explain my intentions.
I have embarked on a mammoth personal project that will most likely last for the rest of the year. Why so long, you might ask. I am not 100% percent dedicated to modelling as I have also the family and my company to take care of.
I have had this idea for some time now and in the past few days I finally made my mind on what to display, which kits to use etc. But, let me explain what the project is all about. I will be using two Tiger Is (Tamiya kit 35216), a Famo kit (again Tamiya), a Tank Engine maintenance Crew kit (Tamiya again) and another kit with barrels and canisters to go in the Famo. Along with these, I have one set from Aber (35K01 I believe) for one of the Tigers, Friul tracks (ATL-25) for both tanks, aluminium barrels for both tanks, two sets of Aber PE for the Famo as well as Friul tracks (I believe they’re the late type) for it too.
The whole scene is set sometimes in the summer of 1943/1944 (it doesn’t really matter) on the Russian front. There’s a countryside road with trees lined up on the left hand side as you’re observing the scene. The two Tigers are stopped facing you and the Famo is behind them (I am not sure at this point if it will be facing the viewer or the other way around). The second Tiger is having engine problems and the engineers are on its back, trying to fix it. There will be quite a few soldiers slacking around the scene, basically mingling and not doing much. I will probably need to add a few more figures from Alpine or Tristar, but for now I am quite tight with the finances.
The build has started already, with the first Tiger in the scene, and decided to be the tank S45 as shown in Tamiya’s painting instructions from the kit. I think the second tank will be tank 213 (as in the kit painting guide) but am not 100% sure about it right now.
I have some pictures taken of the boxes to exemplify what will be included in the build as well as pictures of what I have accomplished so far in terms of building, but am having problems on hosting them. Some help will be appreciated on this matter.
I intend to keep you guys updated on a regular basis. Most likely, by the end of the build, I will try to sum up the whole experience and send it to the editors to be presented as a Build Log.
I am sure I will have more questions than answers, I will be a pain in the back, so bear with me for the time being. I intend to give this build my best and learn new things and techniques while having fun modelling.
So what do you gentlemen think? Any ideas, comments, things that I should consider?
Thank you for reading.

This was posted on the Missing Lynx site today: 1/48 Bandai scene which is sort of similar to your idea but may be some inspiration. Go for it I say

I promised some pictures and here they are.
1. This one shows the kits I will be using for this whole build
2. The upperstructure and the glacis plate glued in place
3. The engine grills added
4. One of the exhausts waiting for the final sanding of the putty
More will come as I make progress.

William, I am a professional photographer. I do mainly weddings and protraits. My site is in the WWW green button below my callsign.
I haven't decided yet on which Tiger/Company I will do, so anything to help me is greatly appreciated. The Dragon kits are awesome and was looking to get at least one of them, but for now I will hold back on any purchase.
Thanks for the offer to send me the links. I am looking forward to see them.
Kind regards,
Sebastian

Sebastian,
I think William means what Tiger Kompanie (unit of Tigers) you'll be using. Not your occupation
Tigers were, usually, organised into independant 'Heavy Panzer' units that were attached to various Divisions.
Are you going to Zimmerit them?

Tom, yes, William might've asked that indeed. I believe SpzAbt 501 and 502 will be for the two tanks. As they are early versions, no zimmerit will be applied to them. And I am not that skilled anyways to tackle zimmerit. I am staying away from it for now, as I don't want to make a mess of my models. Maybe later on when my skills will grow I will add some zimmerit.

Hi all,
It has been a long time. I have made some progress on the first Tiger, specifically the S45. I have assembled the main components and the main parts have been glued on the tank, leaving the others for a later step. I have assembled the tracks as well and mounte them temporarily to check for sag and length. The gun is assembled as well an ready to go in the turret. Speaking of turret, I have assembled the seats inside and painting of each one will be done by brush, most likely using Tamiya paints. You will see that the wheels are already painted to some degree. This is because I have started this kit a few years back, than it was on hold until now.
Will keep you posted as I make more progress. Next is to work on the other parts to get this project moving.
Below are some pictures for you to enjoy.
Any comments, critiques, suggestions, I am open to anything.
1. This is the Bosch light. I have made the electrical wire using some stripped wire that's used at tying the toys inside the packaging. I have also used the transparent plastic wire cover to replicate the socket in the Bosch light.
2. This is the engine grille. As you can see, trhere has been some damage, maybe a grenade or something. The grills are the Tamiya PE.
3. The exhaust cover from Aber. Also damaged. Notice the masking I have done in preparation for the primer.
4. The Feifel air cleaners. They are primed already using the Tamiya white Fine Surface primer.
5. Side view with the wheels and tracks in place - just temporarily
6. Top view.
7. Front view. I have attached some of the tools and left others aside. Also some masking has been applied before priming
8. Engine bay view.
