Let me preface by saying it's been awhile since I've been into modeling.
I'm familiar with basic stuff, but it appears I'm supposed to use some heated bit to melt a clip on the backside of the drive wheels? There is a symbol of a screwdriver with lines protruding from it. Is there any reason I couldn't use a liquid welder to the same effect?
Am I missing something?

I usually means the part can turn or move. If you glue it, it's locked in place. It 's cheaper for the model company then the old poly caps. then again If its an old kit it could be a throw back to the days of cruising over the carpet.
It is some times easier to get the tracks on if the wheels turn. Just a guess anyway.

Guess I'll just glue the back part. It should serve the same purpose as sticking a hot knife on.
Thanks
It did come with rubber tracks. Hard to believe it would be a toy to push around considering all of the microscopic parts to be assembled. The kit # is No. 6432. I'm thinking of getting proper tracks. I don't remember there ever being single piece rubber tracks. Hopefully there is some aftermarket 1/35 scale tracks I can use for it.

It does mean use a hot screwdriver, and it's a hangover from the 70s origin of the kit. But if you use a fairly thick model cement (like Revell Contacta in the needle dispenser) instead then they work just as well.
