I'm still hoping/wishing that someone (Trumpeter or Dragon perhaps?) manufactures a 1/35 Landing Craft Air Cushion vehicle. That be damn mighty fine to have, along with a USMC M1A1 Abrams on it - just dying to be on a diorama!

Actually its a 1/16 DORA.The biggest 1/35 kit I have seen has to be the Accurate Armor German U-Boat Type XXIII or the Type VIIc.But who would pay $500 for a German boat?

Was this the same size gun as Anzio Annie? How many of these rail guns did the Germans have? This one packed an 11 inch gun, were there any bigger ones used? And no way JOse, I still have all three of those 350 scale carriers to find homes for once I build them, let alone their expected brothers Nimitz and Lexington, and now there is Leopold and I still have that old Dragon Wagon to go. Like the man says "gonna need a bigger boat"
Blaster76,
I believe the Leopold was one of the two guns that were Anzio Annie. IIRC, the Americans thought there was one gun, but there were two at work. I think both were the k(5)e's. The Germans had quite a few of these. Maybe twenty or so (?); more than a dozen, at any rate.
The really big model is of the Dora, which I believe was an 800mm(!) gun. Took days to assemble and hundreds to operate and supply.

I've got one on advanced order; maybe I should go ahead and start my Karl as a warm-up. Wonder what kind of engine they used to move Leopold in and out of the tunnel at Anzio, and if there is a kit of the engine available?

Jimf; There is a resin (?) kit out there of a 35th steam loco. It is buku bucks! I've seen one at a show, it is to die for, and that would happen to me if I bought the thing. Dragon also made a nice series of rail cars you can still find.

Guess What!? The Leopold does come with figures...Get on the Dragon website (not Dragon America)and follow the thread by the picture of the Leopold and it'll show you the figures...they were designed by Ron Volstad. It says you can use them for the Karl also.

Thanks for the link on the figs. I knew it came with 6, just didn't know what they looked like. I also picked up a resin Nation figure just in case it didn't come with figs, just for scale.
I have mine pre-ordered through Squadron.... wonder when they'll get here?

Dragons site now lists this kit as shipping..... Build your extension to the model bench now. Wonder how mounting it it on a section of real railroad tie would look?
