Hello Everyone!

As the regular attendees of campaigns might know, it is a tradition to carry-out one halftrack and one wheels campaign each year. We did the halftracks already, why not create a Wheels campaign for 2009?

For those of you not familiar... The rules are simple. The vehicle you will build must be wheeled, no tracks allowed. It must be utilized to carry either cargo or passengers (eliminating Self-propelled artillery type vehicles and such). There are lots and lots of vehicles you can build, wheeled APCs, trucks, cars, you name it. As long as it has wheels and it carries around cargo/troops it can be included.

The time frame will be 6 months. Options for starting month is June, July, August and September, we can choose.

We already have 3 volunteers, including me it's 4. I need 6 more volunteers to officially submit this campaign. What do you think?

Hi
I'm interested in this build.
I've just taken out of the loft an old Vac form kit of an Kraftwagen 63 which I'm looking for info & pic's that I can use to build. I could delay the build & do this for the campaign build.

Armored cars (such as Sdkfz 222) allowed?

I was thinking more in terms of cargo/troop carriers, like APCs, jeeps or trucks. But I don't know, we can allow anything as long as it rolls on wheels and wheels only.

Thanks! In that case (if you decide armored cars will be included) i'm in.

Ok, let's include those as well. With the recent releases like the Staghound and the V-100, V-150 series there's lots of new options for that.

Including Tuomas, that makes 8. 2 more?

Hi Emre,

is it possible to go for a bike? It has wheels and it can carry cargo.

I have the DML Viet Cong set and I like the idea of creating a loaded bike pushed forward by a Viet Cong soldier in the jungle. It gives me also the opportunity to try some things I wanted to do for a while like creating jungle and working with artificial water.

Give me your thoughts.

Uh oh, we are pushing limits with this one it seems...

Ok, for the sake of the campaign, yes let's say bikes are okay, ON THE CONDITION THAT they have either a person or some sort of load (better be a large heavy load) on them. Deal?

I can guess the next question. No, I will NOT allow hand carts (or trailers)! Yes they have wheels but no they are not real vehicles!

Hi Emre,

thanks for allowing my proposol for the campaign. I'm gonna build a scene based on the picture I posted before with a fully loaded bike. This will be great (i hope..)!

Emre,

I presume you counted my vote from the half-track thread. I just checked and I have a 2 1/2 ton truck, a couple of Hummers and a BTR 80 that aren't built in my stash. Decisions, decisions.

Cheers,

OK, that makes 10! Keith, with the latest adjustments both vehicles will be ok.

I will submit the campaign, but will go over the rules here as well.

Scale: All scales
Time Frame: Any
Rules and Regs:
1. The vehicle should have wheels and use only wheels to move around. No tracks or half-tracks are allowed. Tanks with removable tracks are not allowed. "Walkers" are not allowed as well.
2. The vehicle should be used to carry people or cargo. Still, armored cars, motorbikes and simple bikes are also welcome. If you are modeling bikes and motorbikes, please try to model them together with a rider or some sort of load.
3. No trailers or anything carried on a trailer is allowed on its own. Plus, a tracked vehicle hauling a wheeled trailer will not count.
4. Dioramas are welcome, but the main focus should include the wheeled vehicle. If you are modeling an airfield, your fuel-truck would not possibly count. A few soldiers unloading a truck or a Humvee on patrol are good examples for acceptable dioramas.

What do you say?

Like Dave, I'm in!!!

Shoot for August or September start? I'm thinking a Krupp Protze, 222, Ford GPA, Horch, Steyer, BTR-80, Opel Blitz, or???? I have many wheeled-only options. (Like the idea of the GPA.....heheeh, got a 1/48 Kuebelwagon too!)

Emre, submit it so we can sign up!!! If you need a "number 2" for this, I'll happily help out.

Nope, I can't. With my life as chaotic as it is, I can hardly get any modeling done. The least I can do is motivate you to build!

You can always tell her, that she knows exactly where you are in the moment... That's what I do...

It's higly probable that I will not manage to build my model for Wheeled AFV's/ Tracked APC's so I'd join this one with pleasure with my HMMWV.

Emre, do you want ribbon for this one too? PM me if you have some ideas and I'll be happy to make it!

A.

Greetings all!

Well, the economy has finally hit my industry so I have an unexpected two week "vacation" (layoff). Having all this free time on my hands I thought I might try my hand at a banner for this campaign. All you artistic types try not to laugh too hard or I might hear you even several thousand miles/kilometres away.

In all seriousness, Emre and anyone else, please let me know what you think and of any suggestions or changes you'd like to see.

Here's a simple one:

Something a bit more busy:

I like the first one Jan. I'll definitely use that one, once the campaign becomes official.

I recommend using something with more wheels compared to a Staghound... like a 10 ton truck with 8 wheels or a tank-transporter
