Lord Lens:

Great idea. I've already done the M18, M10, and the Italeri B1-- but German stuff is always good-- so count me in.

Personally I'd like to see a campaign with a ribbon, but casual is ok too---just as long as we have fun!

Again, great idea Dave!

This could be cool as I have a few TD's on the shelf needing knives and glue.
I have another M18, an M10, the M6 AT gun carrier and the M6 3" gun conversion for the Italeri 105mm howitzer. Not to mention the M3 75mm GMC - which will be for the "halftrack" build
Does a bazooka count?

If you modeled the M6 Fargo with 37mm AT Gun - that would qualify as a bazooka!

I think a Group Build this big might inspire a Ribbon for participation. Maybe since it isn't a Campaign, the time to model could be longer - like from now through the end of the year...

Yes, 1:1 bazooka counts. #:-)

Just chatted with Carl in the chatroom, since I am really bad at making up rules, maybe tankcarl will come up with something little rules for the groupie (or campaign). I think we can be loose on the deadline, say till the end of this year. Maybe we can have the following catagories:

Da Real McCoy

88mm carried TD (elefant, hornisse, etc), 17 pounders (archers, etc), 90mm, or such big gun TD, SU-122, SU-85, etc

Da Wannabes:

Hetzers, Marders, etc, etc

Da Door Knockers

them halftrack mounted with a 37 mm, etc, etc,

Da Are you Kidding me

either the real crazy 128mm jagdtiger, or the real small TK with 20mm guns....etc, etc.

But hey, I am crazy, I bet someone will come up with more approriate cats.

Dave,

Not to burst your bubble, but the SU-122 isn't a tank destroyer it is self propelled artillery.

Thanks,SS.
TANK Carl guiding the group build about TANK Destroyers.Oh the irony.

Not Rules, since there is no contest, just guiding suggestions:

TIME : 1 July till the end of the year.If you want something and can't get it soon,no worries.
THEME : Tank Destroyers. Purpose built , kill one type of target , vehicles.
ERA : If it was called a tank Destroyer then it is suitable. (Creativity points for pre WWII vehicles)
SECTIONS : Wheeled,Towed Gun,1/2 track,Full track. (Soviet anti tank dogs are a nyet-nyet)
SUBLOTS : As SS said;
Da Real McCoy

88mm carried TD (elefant, hornisse, etc), 17 pounders (archers, etc), 90mm, or such big gun TD, SU-122, SU-85, etc

Da Wannabes:

Hetzers, Marders, etc, etc

Da Door Knockers

them halftrack mounted with a 37 mm, etc, etc,

Da "Are you Kidding me?"

either the real crazy 128mm jagdtiger, or the real small TK with 20mm guns...
From a chat session a few days ago,SS and I are sort of planning the Porsche suspensioned JagdTiger by DML.I will start on July 14th,my birthday,Bastille Day.Storm da walls...

kick it around.

Let THE GREAT ARMORAMA TANK DESTROYER GROUP BUILD Begin !

Gentlemen:

A word of warning to all thinking about participating in this group build/campaign. Even though I have the highest respect for Dave and Tank Carl (tm), when the two of them get together ----and start thinking/plotting--------be afraid -----be very very afraid!!!!!!!! Uh -huh

ps: just kidding

Dave & TankCarl,

Why not allow our esteemed aircraft building brethren to participate. We could also accept any plane whose main purpose was/is to hunt tanks (i.e. JU-87, IL-2, P-47, A-10, etc.) and we could also accept figure builders by allowing tank hunter teams (i.e. bazooka, piat, panzerfaust, panzerschrek, anti-tank rifle teams, etc.). I just thought that this might be a good idea since this is just a "for fun" group build.

Excellent! A wild & wooly Group Build goin' on now!

Hmmm... SS-74 & TankCarl - this pairing has the makings of something pretty interesting...

Just in case some newbie comes along and stumbles into the new, excellent, Campaign Central Command Forum, I'll list the Group Build as notice.

I'll need to see if I can hunt up enough references to build the crazy tank-killer that I've got in mind. WIth that, I'll chime in and join up. Heck, since it lasts to the end of the year, I might even finish it in time.

I'll try this one out with an airplane, but I'm not gonna do another A-10. This would be a good time to try doing a SU 25 Frogfoot. As my modelbuilding roommate from college said, " All the whoomp of a warthog, but not as ugly" I have a kit laying around, ,and I have a couple of decals for it. Let me know when we are starting.
