Here's my almost completed 1/35 AMX-30 AuF 1 SPG. Base kit is from Heller with a truck load of scratchbuilding.

I have more detailed shots if there is some interest

Thanks guys

Sebastien: The gun is from the kit. As the tube and cylinders come in halves you can imagine I was in for some major seams sanding The color you see is the primer I used to check my work.

Here's a link to the actual blog of the kit: AMX-30 AuF1 Blog It's in french but there's near 300 in-progress pictures. Lots of them showing the Heller parts, then the real vehicle, then what I did. If you have any questions I'll gladly try give more info

Hi richard
In all honesty it's gonna be a shame to paint it i think it looks great as it is.
I have got to say what a fantastic looking build you really have gone to town on the extra details. What are the green tie downs made from ?

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the nice comment. The straps are regular masking tape with the buckles made out of thin copper wire.

Hey Richard

When I was browsing the construtive feedback forum this evening to search my thread I found yours by accident. I just can't understand how I could have missed this beauty. I'm glad I still found it. I started a heller VAB so I know what the kits are like to bad you need them to build some french modern armour. I have looked through your build log but you're scratch building techniques are very good according to me. You have one master piece at the ready. Just 3 more words for you: PAINT, PAINT, PAINT!

Cheers Roel et à la prochaine

I thought this thread was now burried for good

You're so right Roel: French stuff mean Heller which mean "mission impossible"
Build is on hold at the moment. I'm waiting for some resin tracks and someone pointed out that with all the hard work so far it would be a shame to leave the two fire extinguisher without proper brackets.

Hope to resume the work soon. I just hope I won't mess everything with the paintjob

Richard, you've done an excellent job.

I really enjoy seeing these older kits being built and fixed up.

Nice job on an old kit. I like seeing people tackle these things. You did a lot of work on that and it shows. Wouldn't it be great if someone would give us a fresh take on the AMX series, M48/60 series and Leopard 1s? We can dream.
