Just curious if this is a disease, or just the nature of the hobby.
Mind you this is only half what I have (the ones by my workstation are those I am most likely to finish in the near future.). Interested to see what people have in terms of piles of
models.

My pile is similar, but I hide mine in a closet. My wife doesn't need to know that I have so many unfinished kits. She may make some rule up that I actually have to finish them all before I can buy more. That just would not be cool.

No I don't have that many, but in the last two weeks I have added two tanks(t34 & a leopard) a spitfire, a pack of german tank hunters, and a pack of russian tank riders and I still want more. I am infected.

I have numerous kits waiting. I don't understand it. I know I have a ton of kits, but I just keep buying them. I am beginning to wonder if the model companies are using subliminal messages on the boxes. Yeah, I know I'll never finish them all, but their mine all mine I tell you. (maniacle laughter) #:-)

I've probably got close to a thousand unbuilt model kits. It is a disease. Here's about 10% of the total. It's my "ready rack" or stuff that's on my "gonna do soon" list.

That's only a few, I'm up over 100. I keep telling the frau that I'm buying them for my retirement. She seems to accept this argument... for now.

well, *AHEM*, I have around 3000 models kits in boxes...something I am not terribly proud of, I would rather have them all BUILT. (YEs, I will RULE the plastic Battalions, I shall conquer all that is made with toluene and super glue...er, ahem, did I say that outloud?)

No really, here are a couple shots of my workarea, basement:
and the "ready rack" as Rob put it,

i've only been building for about a year and a half.. and I've found I have the model bug..
I have about 50 unbuilt kits.. almost all of the stashed high up where my wife can't see em..
I built a false ceiling in the small laundry closet of the apartment. I left only a 2 foot by 2 foot hole in one corner and have to stand on the washer to get to the stuff. but I figure out of sight out of mind. and I can sneak in more.........

Jacques,
The number of kits you have is amazing, but to be honest, the carpet on the walls and ceilings concerns me. It is very Silence of the Lambs like. What noises are you trying to muffle?

Jeez- how do you guys get away with it - I know that kits are more expensive in the UK than North America / Canada ( on holiday I saved £60 in one trip to a model shop!) but more than two unbuilt is grounds for divorce! #:-)

blimey!and i thought my pile was bad!not as lucky as jacques to have a whole basement to fill up,have to use an alcove just off the landing upstairs, the housemates joke about the 'modelshop' i'm going to open up but now having seen the stashes of others i'm glad it's not just me.does anyone else hear the mantra "BUYME BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME" as they pass the model store or open the latest finescale modeller/military in scale/military modelling?

This thread got me thinking, so I reckoned up just how many I had in my stash. The results, while no where near to Jacques astonishing total, were pretty shocking. To date there are:
481 AFV's in 1/72, 1/48, 1/35 ( includes figures, groups and singles)
161 A/C in 1/72
103 A/C in 1/48
_____________
745 Total
(anyone got the number for Kit Buyers Anonymous?) #:-)
ps. I dont even what to think about how much that lot has cost, not to mention the after-market bits.

Well.....um.... yeah I got a few kits. Closing in on about 1800+/-. Mine are awaiting my return from Iraq. My wife allows them. Better plastic than nudy bars she says. Only trouble is, I'm running out of room and I have a new hobby, a full size, 1:1 scale Harley...yeah I know, more $$, but I love it. heh heh "Q" :-)

Well Jaques, that really took my breath away... You can also feel proud that thanks to your stash (and Sabot's) that domestic harmony can now return to my house. My wife cannot possibly say anything when I present her with photos of what a reasonable person I am when it comes to purchasing life's little luxuries.....Jim

Wow,
Jimrae you're right - I guess maybe all of us are in similiar situations. I've been getting flak from my wife as well about the number I've been accumulating.
Thanks Jacque, Sabot & Jejack - I going to use these pictures of your cache to defend myself as well - nice work area.
Any of you guys have one that you are particularly found of - a rarity - one that you may never actually build because it could be worth something - money wise or other

My stash is about 100 give or take a few. Probaly 30 or so I purchased during the 91 Gulf War era, another 20 or so that have just followed me home from the hobby shop, and the balance came from inventory that was left when I closed my hobby shop in the late 70s.
It is an addiction... I'd have more except for finances.

Well I'm glad to see I'm not alone (kinda figured I wasn't) And Jacques, THANKS!!! after seeing your "STACK", my wife isn't so concerned with mine, just says to never let it get that bad. And the wife also figures that I'm not spending money on Nudie Bars and stuff like that either. So she is as supportive as I could hope for at least. She just wishes I would actually finish some of them.
