Hello willow
Beings though you will be brush painting your best bet will be vallejo model color.
Try vallejo model color 979 dark green and for the black camo give vallejo model color 862 black grey a go....................

If you put a gloss coat on before you addd the decal then put a matt coat on it will darken the tamiya color down.

Thanks The grass doesn't stand up straight like normal grass though. Any suggestions on how to get it that way?

Hey guys, sorry there hasn't been any updates in a while, been pretty busy with mock exams and homework ect so progress is slow as i havent been modelling much. I'm also having a few fit problems with the kit, i think next time i'll ask for an easier kit, as i'll admit this is pretty hard for me
I have also attemted my first dml figure that james gave me, again not much progress but i'll be posting that up shortly too.
Here is a small update, nothing fancy, just a few extra bits and bobs.

looking good willow,
I know what you mean on limited budget. If you aren't too confident in brush painting, I've found that the Tamiya Spray cans work as a fantastic substitute. If you cant, try to find an alternative spray paint, there are a lot out there that can match the color.
Oh, and also, make sure you get rid of the glue strands, ASAP. It detracts from the good build you have
It's looking really good.

If you paint it nice it will turn into a great model.Remember to fill all the gaps and sand all the flash. I just finnised this exact model here on british armor and it was lots of fun.Good kit to increase skill.
You should save money for an airbrush.Nothing too expensive.MIG has some good ab.You could buy it from another modeller too...
It will really make a difference.

hi willow ,
heres a quick and easy tip for your base ,, after you have your mud done put a good covering of white wood glue mixed with a bit water down where you want you grass,, you need static gass as it is the static that makes it stand up ,,,, ok heres the good bit hope you get this ,,,,, clean out and dry an empty washing up liquid bottle ,plastic bottle squeezy type ..
fill up about half way with your static grass ,, invert the bottle and squeeze hard so it shoots the static grass on to your white glue ,,,, practice this and you will love the results ..good luck

Hi Willow ,
I,ve just been catching up on the forums and came across your thread.
I see you mentioned you had a problem with paint colours from different companies.
Here is the link I think will help,
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/helpdesk.asp#color_charts
I found the reference charts very helpful.
Hope this is a help but I'm sure there are other sites out there as well, just a matter of looking
