Just finished my M106A1. I did not like the fact that the Tamiya kit came with the ammo racks molded full, so I scratch built new ones and loaded them with the type of items found in tracks during my service in Germany in the 70's ( personal gear, c-rats, ammo cans, etc.). Next up is an M577 I had as the FDC for my 4.2 platoon.

Very nice Dave.
I am also an M113 fan and the 106 is the only one I've completed so far.
I really like the interior. It has the llok of a well used vehicle.
Good Job.

when i first started kitbuilding(in the 80's!)i loved to build 70's and 80's US armour for their funky cammo schemes, and thats why yours is so good!So much more attractive than dunkelgelb und rotbraun.........

Looks good. The kit doesn't come with a heater does it?

Are you building an interior for the M577?

Looks interesting - just how many M113 tracks are you planning to model?

I will attempt to answer all of the above questions. The M106 does not come with the crew heater; I scratched that, the ramp cable assembly and several other deleted details. I am not going to do the interior on the M577. I had thought about it, but the diorama I have in mind only requires a partial interior, and that's what I am planning to build. As far as which vehicles I plan to build, this is the planned list so far: M113A1, M106A1, M577A1, M125A1 (81mm mortar) , M901 ITV, M163A1 Vulcan and the M113 TOW (w/ TOW Cap if I can get pictures or jog my memory. In the 70's when I was a new 2LT, I wish that I had been smart enough to take pictures of the tracks and their interiors. Seems all I was worried about back then was getting through my three year tour in Germany with out freezing.
As far as lessons, I am flattered! I have never considered my work on the level of trying to teach others. However, I will share my knowledge or answer any specific questions that anyone has.

Thanks for all of the encouraging comments.

Dave
