I have been trying to find an article on how to make roof tiles fron lead foil but can't seem to find it....it involved making a jig and then pressing lead foil onto the jig to make the italian tiles...can anyone help me locate this article?

What about using fimo clay (self hardening model clay) and make the patern you want then when set emboss the tin foil into that to get the shapes you want.

I did a roof using those plasticstraws my kids got balloons on - they are quite thin, easy to cut up and glues with ordinary plastic cement.

Carbord have the disadvantage of having a very "open" and uneaven surfaces which can leave the edges somewhat fluffy.

I think that Miniart might soon come to the resque if you donīt want to scratch one:
