I thought as model makers you'd love to see this. Amazing in it's shear magnitude. Love to visit it.

AFV diorama will probably lose its focus if it gets too big. I believe we AFV modellers have something in our genes that hate moving toys. We enjoy static models more than moving trains. Can only see it as a tourist attraction.

Your entitled to your opinion and I think Janne was tongue in cheek anyway but as regards moving items I think you'll find Tamiya and others do a very nice business out of their remote control AFV's and if you look at this site as an example you'll see plenty of interest in "moving toys"http://www.mark-1-tank.co.uk/ so I'd say your assumption as to what "we" enjoy and in our genes is way off.

Remote controlled models of AFV 's hold no personal interest for me I might add, but then again I live so close to Bovington I can go and see the real thing moving around anytime.

I'm not a model railway builder either but I can appreciate the work and dedication that went into getting this together and sure it's a tourist attraction, number one without doubt. To expect something of this size and complexity to be funded by the gate money produced by only model railway enthusiasts wanting to see would be a pretty disastrous business decision. It's entertainment, some fun.

Fine, "we" does not need to mean "you". IS THIS BULLYING on opposing opinions. You better put this under Model Train if you can find it. You are way way off.

Bullying. Where are you coming from. Because I disagreed with you, please ........

I posted as a modeller who knows that modellers have interests beyond the specifics they like to model.

These train people do really dislike when you ask them if they "play" with their trains. But there are many similaritys to both hobbies.

I wouldnt mind a R/C Tiger I in 1/6 to terrorize the neighbours with, if they werent that pricey. But if I win the lottery I will surely buy one.

And should I ever venture into model trains the scene would be wild west with mines, mountains, ghost towns and mining rails as well.

Cheers

No, you posted as someone making statements about what you believed " we AFV modellers have something in our genes that hate moving toys. We enjoy static models more than moving trains."

I merely commented and disagreed with that broad and unproven assumption. I wasn't rude in any way but you accused me of "bullying".

If you've got a problem with people disagreeing with what you say and saying so in a perfectly appropriate manner I suggest forums are not something you should get involved in.

As I said I posted as a modeller who knows that modellers have interests beyond the specifics they like to model and knowing the connections may find this interesting. Maybe even if they were in the local area looking for something to do.

Paul, Alan posted this link because as modelers we always (or should) enjoy seeing something different. To dismiss Model Railrods as 'Moving Toys' demonstrates a) A lack of manners and b) a total lack of understanding at the incredible work which goes into it.

Secondly, i'm at the point of deleting ALL your posts in this thread as whatever your ACTUAL point of view is, your responses were exteremely bad-mannered and demonstrated little more than an ill-founded prejudice... Alan took the effort to post the link, if you don't like it, the best thing to say, is precisely nothing..

I have no intention to equate model trains as moving toys. I only stressed the difference between moving and static. If anyone is offended, I would take it back. BTW, is this forum censorship?

This is simply amazing. Just...wow.

I think we as modelers have an obsession with anything detailed and brought to a smaller size.

I wonder if the argument occurring above would take place if you were speaking face to face. Seems so childish to me.

I very much enjoyed the video. Would love to see that layout in real life.

WOW! i think it looks fantastic.
I can fully appreciate the amount of time and planning that it must have taken to create something on this kind of scale.
I'd like to have the time/money/space/ patience/experience and understanding partner to do something like this in 1/35 scale with a military theme.. a section of the Battle of Kursk maybe??!
