I was just thinking how great it would be if we could set up a convention so we could all meet at some stage.
I know this is impractical because we're all over the world, and i for one couldnt afford it right now, but lets say in a couple of years.
Well who knows, just a thought that was running through my head, an international armora conference.......

Not a BAD idea, exactly, but you've gotta admit travel costs for a "face to face" in the UK are a lot different than here in North America. I can't afford to got to the IPMS Nats (and that's only 600 or so miles from me this year), so I wouldn't be likely to travel just to socialize. That's why Forums like this appeal to me.

It is a great idea, but as ZoomieE7 said, not very practical for North America. Canada is over 5000km wide, so travelling almost anywhere is quite costly. There's a significant difference in driving across a country in 10 hours versus 10 days.

As opposed to mine, which is in the middle of nowhere... literally. I'm just down the road from the geographic centre of North America.

I sure hope just West of Grand Forks really ISN"T the center of the universe. But maybe that's why it's always windy.....

:-) Martin,
I had suggested (in a previouse post) that we Brits, and anyone else that could make it, met at the IPMS UK Scale Modelworld, at Telford this year. There weren't many takers, which is suprising. I think it's a great idea to meet people from this site, face to face. I would have thought Telford to be the ideal place :-) An international meet would be even better. When I win the lottery I'll pay :-)

I officially nominate Kansas City, as it is in the gegrraphic center of the states and would be easiest for many people to get to. It doesn't hurt that it is where I live and would mean I wouldn't have to drive far I can put a couple people up at my house.

I like the video idea. I think that MSN or Netmeeting has a video conference ability.

Don't forget Armorama will have a table and contingent at KMK Scaleworld in Geel Belgium. Just a hop and a skip across the channel.

I wish I could go.

id be up for a standard monthly meeting in a chat room. probably the best way to arrang a time would be to take the earliest time from the west, the latest time for those in the east and choose the time in the middle of both.

Howdy

Here you can find more info on the event in Belgium

KMK Scale World 2003

It will be held on Sunday, September 14 in Geel.

Hop right over, a ferry from England to Belgium is not that pricey and maybe you could pursued the wife to come along, On Saturday a trip to Brugge or Antwerp and on Sunday a modeling event in Geel.

Another topic about this event can be found here:

The problem is that there are a lot of contries that have little quantity of members, so National Meetinks can work only for contries that have at least 50 or more members.
Itīs dificult for many people to tarvel to another country, not only thinking in money also in time. Maybe it can be posible that all the interested members start sending photos of himself to the Gallery. Thereīs an album there where to place them. I will do it.

Hi everyone!

Sorry - I'm a bit late in on this topic...

There's a lot of good ideas bouncing around here!

Firstly, the UK fraternity should really make the effort to meet up at Telford, like Holdfast is suggesting. I've never been to the IPMS show but, work permitting, having the chance to get together with a bunch of you guys would be a great incentive!

The show in Belgium sound great! It's not that far for UK modellers and so long as there a chance to sample some Belgian beer... (stunning stuff - for those who haven't tried it...)!

I may sound stupid but... how do the chat-rooms work? Whenever I log on they're empty! Is it a "private party" that nobody goes to? I'm all for a regular meet - I don't mind setting the alarm clock! Maybe it should be arranged according to modelling interest - an aircraft enthusiast could feel a bit lonely in a chat-room full of sports car fans - or whatever...

All the best

Phantom....Fortunately for you (PIGS and Non-PIGS) I have made the invite the the worlds best hobby show. The Tokyo Hobby Show!!!!!!! the Dates are Oct 10-12 with public days the 11th and 12th of OCT. Funny thing I only got one confirmation for the Show. Guys airfare to Japan is rather Cheap. not as expencive a some would think. I'd like to see more than just one or 2 of Armorama's Finest at the show. BTW Think yen price is cheap????? What till you come to the show, at times kits are a third of what they cost in the shops. HLJ has the kits at yen price, Shop price is cut by 20% of that price!!!! Now you tell me how I got 4 kits at shizuoka for 2000 yen (about $16 US) so come on guys Join me for a weekend of fun. BTW my wife SOW1 is wanting to cook for all of us Armorama Guys.... STUG
