I agree with Frank on those Alan kits.... still have 4 or 5 in stash... I'll build them when I will be an old patient and wise man

Great build log as usual Marcos !

--- com caipirinha ---

John, muito obrigado !!!!!

Estes kits são o sal da terra !!!!

Apart from the sink marks, most of that kit looks better than the last two Revell kits I've had. The 1/72 Schnellboot and 1/48 Apache have so many miss-alligned moulds and so much flash that they nearly got binned. It's only 'cos I'm a tight fisted old sod and hate to throw things away that they're actually getting finished!

Dave

Really ... I agree ...

But, there are worse things in life ...

A kit from Maquette, for example ...

... or my mother-in-law using bikini!

If I opened the box and found that it would get a burial at sea. you are mad pushing through with this I hope the end result justifies the means.

Darren...

I like challenges .... and it was a hobby, this is the kind of challenge I like!

Stay tuned ....

But surely it will be a more fun and rewarding experience... will it?

Forgive me, but I thought Alan was just the name of some bloke you bought it from.

Mathew, I agree !!!

Nothing more annoying that these kits like Dragon, which is mounted alone!

No pain, no gain !!!!!

OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH that brand name !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It had brought me close to literally quitting the hobby........... but than I just started to find the other stuff again. Built ALAN for awhile just because I got tired of sticking the fork into my ear.

But...oooh..no again do I think I will build that mark again.

Wish you all the best (and sanity).

Lou....

If you really want to test your mental health and sanity, try to build the Archer, from Maquette!

This is a definitive test!

Hi Marcos!

It is awesome that you are still 100% positive in completing the kit.
Although I had heard the notorious name "Alan", I did not expect this horrible conditions.

Thank you so much for your showing the reality of the kit.
I wish you can finish the kit as the hot girl !!

Cheers,
Nam

Hi Marcos. This build log is both very funny and very informative. I recently had similar problems with a Heller H35 (nothing fitted, terrible detail etc) but it is an old kit. Thanks for a most entertaining read

The funniest thing is that after a deal like this odyssey, with everything ready and finished, say:

Wow .. I transformed the thing into something very good!

Holly Crap !!

The Archer, from Maquette, may have been manufactured by a Sadistic ...

It´s the largest collection of scrap together in a box I have seen in the Universe ...

Resin parts that were cast by a monkey ...
The plastic parts causing cramps ...

A real medieval torture!

But I am proud to have passed through this test and shout:
ACHIEVING!

ehehehehehehheheheheheheh

See that:

Please, get off the kids in front of the computer ...
The following images can traumatize unprepared minds ...

But, I win !!!

Well, Lads...

After this nice chat, go to the constructive steps of yesterday ...

Remember the terrible gun cradle?

Well ...

This cradle is responsible for the presentation of my great tool in my workbench:

Oral B plus sander....

Without this tool, I would have been (more) crazy!

This sander make this, in few seconds:

Amazing !!!

More tortures...
Detailing the steel wire of the "organic" winch of the gun.
I used black sewing thread ...

And each new piece, a new surprise!

Look that :

eheheheheheheh

Continuing...

Using metal wire, again:

and:

and the Ugly Betty is starting to flowering:

Dry-run:

Uff...
As incredible as it may seem, I am adoring peel this pineapple!

Hey you're really turning this thing into a beaut! And the read is hillarious! Nice Archer too!

The only thing I wonder: How do you get so much time to build (and so fast)??

Cheerio!

I, too, purchased the Alan Model and was immediately impressed that it would probably not go together as easily or pleasantly as I had hoped. In fact, after looking at the quality of the sprues, I was impressed that they had used molds at all to obtain the quality of the molding achieved. In actuality, it was easier and less time consuming for me to build a full sized model of the gun out of match sticks than construct the Alan kit. Here is the result:

I think you will agree that it looks remarkably realistic...
Where to go from here? It is probably time to take a refreshing break from the hobby for a while to reassess, after this experience, why build at all? Maybe it would help to get another diversion for a while to clear the Alan memory from your mind and let things settle. I might suggest becoming involved in a personal philanthropy. Find a need in the world and fill it. There are a lot of people out there who are less fortunate than we, who might use a little help, or just a little caring and attention. We have been admonished to feed the hungry, help the sick, find home for the homeless...I bet right in your own area you could find someone to help...then, later, return to modelling a new and refreshed person, once again with goals and dreams. For example take a look at this poor creature. It appears that this poor girl could barely afford good clothing, wearing tattered and torn, suffering from the indignities of trying to just get by in a world full of such wealth and greed...help those like her!! It will do you good and provide relief from the angst and sorrow of the B4 Alan kit...reach out: you won't be disappointed...

I can't wait for the Trumpeter kit...have fun,
Matt

The unbuild-able beast-kit... becomes a beauty!
Good work so far!

I wish, my skills would be good or fine enough.
My only "scratch-build" is a wooden box... made of plastic, some days ago. And this box was a cruel to build. (can be found in my topic with Trumpeter´s 10cm K18 cannon)

greetings...

Lou...

ehehehehehehehe

and thanks for the Archer. this kit is very, very beautiful...

It is a pity that the big factories do not offer this destroyer in plastic.
The Archer has a shape, a deadly aspect of a latent destructive weapon.
One of my best models (visually speaking ...) in my collection ...
