Yep, the production is concentrating entirely on the Coyote at the moment...

Jim are you sure about that, I read the army are also introducing a Jackel 2 which is an updated Jackel as opposed the stretched Cayote. Seems they have taken into acount lessions learned in the field with the original vehicle, mainly more storage space, a fourth crew postion and moving the gun mount rearward slightly. Importantly though their not increasing the armour.

from what ive heard the jackle 2 is infact exactly the same all that is diffrent (and dont quote me on this) is there adding in an extra seat, re developing the spare tire mounts and moving the 50 cal mounting further backwards as the shells use to hit the driver on the head

Ollie thats pretty much what I read re the improvements and that was from the MOD website, production seems to be concentrating on the Mark 2 vehicle and the Cayote. Did you see the BBC Wales docu on the QDG in Afghan? Showed one of the squadrons using Jackels and at least one of the drivers was armed with a sniper rifle and used it from the seated drivers postion.

Can anyone of you fine gentlemen link me to or provide pictures of this vehicle in use in Afghanistan please. I had never seen this 6 legged variety before but I am a great fan of the Jackal. This 6 wheeled Coyote reminds me of the Aussie LRPV Perentie.
Thanks

As far as Im aware the cayote is not yet in active service on the frontline I belive their going through a trials period before introduction but I could well be wrong.

It is indeed a Coyote. The six wheeled version of the Jackal and it is not in service yet t will be in service by the end of 2009. Its role is to high mobility logistic support to troops in remote areas that the mastif and Wolfhound cannot reach.

There are also a load of Pinzgauers up there as well... When I was up at Cobbaton last month, the owner of the museum was telling me that a group of them always dropped in for a cup of tea on tuesday afternoons Unfortunately, the day I was there, (a tuesday ) they DIDN'T visit...

Pinzgauers, Jackals and Coyote's are all on my new favorite vehicle list, perhaps Trumpeter will see these potential future projects? Does anyone know is the Jackal share a common platform with any other vehicles, eg a Land Rover frame?

From what i understand the jackles frame is a completly new one. as it has to with stand up to 45+ mph over rough sandy terrain.
http://strikehold.wordpress.com/2009/06/24/supacat%E2%80%99s-new-coyote-tactical-support-vehicle-light/
from what is seen here we can tell that the "coyote" is a much longer chassis than that of the jackle which may "lesson" the speed of which it can travel over the "iraqi land" the jackle which is used as a "logistics recon" vechile will probably not be put out of service for another 9-10 years, even though the jackle two will replace most of them, the coyote is being used as a supply vechile but also as support when things get a little "red" out there.
The Frame on the vechile as i've said is new not a landrover frame although some did say they took some of what the frame is from the stalwart but i think that is highly arguementative myself.
seeming as the stolly is a much more "amphibias" rought "english" terrained vechile

SUPACAT has a great web site. You can download the pdf files has have the dimensional specs for all of the vehicles they produce including the Jackal and the Coyote, excellent for those ambitious scratch builders.

Actually your wrong. The Coyote has the same capabilities as the Jackal if not better as its role is to go places where the mastif and Wolfhound cannot reach. Also the wholse idea of having the 6x6 chassis is to cope with the rough terrain in Afganistan not Iraq As its going to be a tactiacal support vehicle for keeping up with Jackals and troops on the front line .

Teasers
Who's going to make the wheels then? Are they similar to anything on the market?
These are the very first pictures I've ever seen of a Coyote let alone build one. No aerial views no underneath views. I may email SUPACAT to see if they can release any other specs but I bet I know what they'll say. You know the curse right, after one us scratch builds anything then some one like Accurate Armour will release a resin one and then 2 years after that Trumpeter will release the plastic one.
Pile on the pictures lads surely some one will attempt this.
Regards
