LeoCmdr my first project will be and these are the real photos to show wich one I want to build. I feel that now that I have the build sheet for the slat armor I can scratch build it my self. It realy looks eazy to build.

I'd love to build this version but that cloth or canvis camo looks hard to make.

The top two are Canadian....the bottom image is a Danish tank....there are some significant differences in the tanks.

LeoCmdr I have fixed the last post with the right title names of the tanks. Thanks for the help, so what are the significant differences in the tanks?

Ok to day I received my latest order of a Hobbyboss Swedish STRV 122 MBT[On the Right]. An the construction of the top of the hull is thicker than that of the basic Leopard hull. Seen here side by side at an angel.

Now here in the build diogram you can see that mini attachments differ from that of the basic Loe-hull version.

Now some side views on the hulls one on one.

I realy like this tank even more now than I did when I first got the idea to do different versions., but for me to go out and spend over 40 bucks on a tamiya and add parts for these hobbyboss kits to make a good kit is a bit to much for my piggy bank. So I'm going to work with these HB kits. I feel I have the skills to over come these kit's short comings.

An thanks guys for all the help.

Ok now after studying the build by "alexcheung" I now see that the 2A4 is what I will need to build that concept armored tank in the gray color. SO I need one more tank. Good thing there all so cheap.

Caveman

I've got both a Canadian Leopard 2A6M and a Danish Leopard 2A5DK on the future build list. As you say research is the best and most important!

For the Canadian Leo 2A6M follow Rick Saucier's Build log here on Armorama, he used the Eduard Slat armour set.

Rick's Build
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/106022&page=1

But many other Canucks (or Canuck Fans... not the hockey team) are building this version as well.... enter Chris J.... go under the Canadian Armour Forum and you'll see all the build logs.

For the Danish Leo 2A5DK as seen deployed with the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) in Afghanistan you'll need to do some kit bashing and some scratch building. Hopefully someone will come out with a conversion set and save all of us the head ache. Jason's reference to Military In Scale has a modified build article of a Leo 2A5DK as seen in Afghanistan, but I want to draw your attention to a new book on the Danish Leo 2A5DK.

Finally after securing a publisher.. Thomas... has finally got his Leopard 2A5DK book published!! This just got listed on Aug 26 so I'm super excited! Here's the link... hope the reference helps!!

Someone needs to do a resin kit of the danish 2A5. with the various camo and it being in afganistain it makes for a good model topic. If no one does it I will do a conversion myself .

Herr Herr!! I agree... What a great model topic. If no conversion comes out in the next year or so I'm planning on kit bashing the Tamiya Leo 2A5 with the HobbyBoss Leo 2A5DK and go from there. Add in some scratch building and the Eduard Slat Armour and I think we're pretty much there.

As for the thermal blankets and Cuda Came netting... I'll probably follow Andy Mitchell's way as seen on his Chally 2 Iraq 2008 build on Military Modelling

Where are all the Danes?? I would have thought someone over there would have come out with something like this already?

I have an order in aswell for that book I'm looking forward to it. As for doing a Danish Leo I want to model a Green/black camo and the sand one pre-slat. Carman if you want to do one you need to get the copy of Military in Scale with the converion by Bernd Zaeske its Feburary 09 issue.

I've already got that article... almost there! Oh and it's March 2009's Military in Scale magazine. The Magazine with the Bae Hawk and 2 Panzer IIs on the cover. Don't mean to correct ya, just incase someone wanted to pick it up I'd want them to get the right edition.

Unless he did back to back articles I don't know about??
